"Traffic was subdued last night, & I don't think we can blame the England v WhoEverItWas one-sided affair.
And having had a peruse of the results, I'm finding it hard to find many interesting angles to discuss, so today's report will not only be duller than usual, but shorter too. And yes, that's a high bar.
Having won his seat in a £7.20 satellite, @tartuwon the Main & went home with £920, which I would imagine feels very good. The result is no great surprise though, his CV includes wins in a Sunday Major & two Sharpshooter Mains. Runner-up @Indory paid for his seat in an unusual way, having played & won a £100 Heads Up Hyper half hour earlier.
For one so modestly rated by Sharky, @buckaroooo had an outstanding night. 2nd in 7 @ 7, went on to win the Mini, as well as a late night £150 BH. Recent results include winning 7 @ 7, plus a seat in the Sunday Major a few weeks ago via the Freeroll. Scratch golfer @HENDRIK62 made a surprise appearance & finished 3rd. Been a good few days for him, as he's a Scot, & would have been thrilled to see Scotland beat mighty Norway away from home on Saturday. I'd be very surprised if he backed Wyndham Clark to win the US Open though.
@WOW1tsANDY is trundling along nicely this month & did well again last night, winning Mega, & 3rd in both Reload & Turbo.
@bigfatfish has been flying under the radar this month, but after 4th place in Sunday's 7 @ 7 he took the win last night, and added 2nd place in the Mini.
The opening £1k BH went to @Gosafe who was registering his first win since taking Reload in April of last year, though for balance worth noting he's fairly low volume.
There was a debut thread win for @tigher who one-tabled 9 @ 9. 2nd was @benc, who I had the pleasure of sharing tables with at SPT Glasgow. Was pleasantly surprised by his whole demeanour in Glasgow, he has unusually well developed social skills for a poker player.
I was surprised to see @bearlythertake the Turbo, if only because we've not seen him for 8 months, but he was very busy last night & in addition to winning Turbo, he played 9 or 10 Heads Up Hypers, including one at £100 which he won. Not bad for his first night back after an 8 month MTT/SNG sabbatical.
@Kaewonly signed up to Sky Poker last night & promptly won the first MTT he played here, so maybe one for the notebook.
@Asho28continues to do well & showed his versatility last night by taking the "big" PLO8. Has been winning all sorts of late, though certainly not in the Daily Forum Comp where he habitually leads for 4 or 5 days before blowing it.
That's it for today, quite surprised I found more to write about than I originally thought.
If you plan to have a few bets at Royal Ascot, VBOL, but please be careful, it's tough to find winners there at the best of times, even more so when there is a late change in going, as is the case today. It's a 35 race Meeting over 5 days too, so don't be going overboard on Day One, keep some powder dry for later in the week."
If I don my Sky Poker cap, the sooner England are out of the Euros, the better, last night was terrible, overlay - & lots of it - everywhere you looked. But then again, the longer England stay in, & maybe even win it, the better it is for our bigger brothers, Sky Bet, Paddy Power, Betfair, & even Sky Vegas are doing Euro-based promos. Given they are all a squillion times bigger than Sky Poker, guess that's good. It still hurts though. Never mind, it'll all be over in a month, & then there's Vegas, & before we know it, Autumn will be here.
The Major actually done far better than I expected (especially relative to some of the other headline MTT's) & ended up with 80 entries & 11 rebuys for a £900 miss. And the winner? @HAYSIE. In effect, he got in for free too, as he collected £130 for winning a £300 BH earlier in the day. Tony is quite elderly, & in poker, it's the custom to be rude about how the older players tackle the game, their opening sizes ("3.5x lol") & perceived nittiness. He certainly gets his share of flak. But he's now won TEN Sunday Majors, plus a handful of UKOPS, the best of which was worth over £10,000, another was £4,300, his biggest Major was during COVID & worth close to £7,000, & back in the days before the Major he won PRIMO. Can any of Team Armchair Critics match that? I don't think so. Well done Tony. There was a pretty spectacular runner-up too, with @tmc460 winning the Freeroll earlier in the evening & going on to collect £1,650 in 2nd. Sharky give him an ABI of less than a quid, which I suspect is a bit misleading, but however you look at it, it was a banging result. In 3rd was another great result, as @gaming123got himself on the podium. Pretty much only plays Sunday Majors these days & since the start of the year has played it 12 times, with results including 3/80, 8/89 (last week), 12/104, 5/103, 16/105 & 6/111. Has never won a Major but has been runner-up no less than FIVE times. His turn to win can't be far away.
In relative terms the Mini Major performed worst of everything last night, needing 125 entries it got just 73. Winner was @Ryanross who seems to split his play 50/50 between DYM's & Scheduled stuff. 2nd was @ILIKE2FISH who seems to be hitting the woodwork a lot lately - he money-bubbled the Major & FT bubbled MidEx. With so few runners in both Main & Mini it was a great chance (mathematically) to win a bit of FTJ cash. There were several near-misses, including @ILIKE2FISH (16th & 2nd), @seikus (9th & 7th) & @Gambelo (4th & 10th). Maybe there is a poker God after all, having shelled out all that overlay it would have been painful for Sky Poker if the FTJ had hit too.
There was more bad news in the £5k BH too, which suffered a 4 figure miss. No real surprises in that one, with the podiumates being @pokarito@69winsalot & @ScottMo1 who helped themselves to the lion's share of that overlay.
It was business as usual for @loololollo who had a win double, £800 BH & Turbo. Incidentally, once the football had finished the MTT numbers bounced back to normal. Bit odd really, as after the football finished those who enjoy golf were treated to THE most dramatic finish to the US Open which never finished until beyond midnight. They say every picture tells a story, & here's proof....
@LeSheik played his first MTT's since early April & managed to bink 7 @ 7.
@geniusread is approaching 1,000 MTT's & has had wins in Reload, Mega, 9 @ 9 & a few other bits & bobs, & added Midex last night for his 8th best result all-time.
The heavily overlaid 9 @ 9 went to thread debutant @S1pSiCC. Anyone got a clue what that alias might represent?
Think that's it for today. There's Euros football again tonight - well pretty much every night for a month in fact - so maybe more booming business for Sky Bet & Co, & more pain for poker. Such is life.
