"Heads Up boss @benc took the Main, & I was a little surprised to see it was his first ever Main Event victory. Until last night, his best effort in an MTT was 9 long years ago when he ran 3rd in a £110 Super Roller. So I dug a little deeper & all became clear. He's played an eye-watering 182,706 games here, but only 1,645 were MTT's, the rest were all Heads Up, mainly Hypers & Turbos. In fact yesterday alone, he played 57 Heads Up matches and just two MTT's (1st in the Main & 6th in Reload). Over the 14 years he has been here, & using Sharky as our guide, he's close to £300k in profit, & that's excluding cash games where he also does well. Proper playa.
@Brunzz broke new ground by winning the Mini for the first time. Has had 4 previous wins - the £1k BH 3 times, & the £1k Rebuy BH once.
@jawzindawz who you may recall took £750 of FTJ money the previous night when winning the Main & 4th in the Mini, was runner-up.
Sheriff went to @WOW1tsANDY to continue his fine run of late. 5 weeks tomorrow he'll be heading to SPT Vegas as he won a package in the very last satellite.
It was a cracking day for @bettingben who spent the afternoon punting Royal Ascot horses with Sky Bet, & then moved across to Sky Poker for a short session in which he was 1st in the 6.30pm £1k BH & 2nd in the 7pm 7 @ 7. What a life. Well done Ben.
@DanHairman who has been here just short of a year & played ~300 MTT's scored his maiden featured win by taking the Rebuy BH.
Similar story for @Beets8 who took the 9 @ 9. Been here just 4 months & played ~50 MTT's, though this was his 3rd win, having won Turbo earlier this month & a Mega in March.
I'm out of time, so that's it for today. Enjoy your weekend."
As we approach the heart of the Euros so it's effect on poker traffic increases, & with Scotland in action last night Sky Poker MTT's took a bit of a pasting. Of the 12 Featured Hold 'Em MTT's, 7 overlaid, with a combined miss of £1,230, worst of which was the Main which came up £550 short. Basically, everything up to 9pm was in trouble, with all the later stuff doing well. Yesterday I wrote that England play at prime time tonight, but I was wrong - they play at 5pm, which is not so bad for poker. However, there's a terrific (& much better) game in prospect at 8pm as Spain & Italy clash. Spain are big favourites, but I have a bit of a fancy for Italy at current prices (~11/4). So maybe another challenging night for the pokers. Great value for the players though.
@AlexaAJ was the one to take most advantage of that Main Event overlay by booking the win, later in the evening he made it a double by winning Turbo, & he was 6th in Turbo. Frustratingly for me, Alexa is not on Sharky, so I struggle to offer meaningful stats, suffice to say they are an absolute winning machine. I can say he's only been here 3 years but has made a serious amount of money at a ridiculously high ROI.
The Mini went to @mysteryreg who had a most interesting day, playing a whole load of MTT's, SNG's/Heads Up stuff in several different sessions. The first result was a win in a 5am BH, followed by another win in a £20 Heads Up PLO affair at 07.49. Quite startling to imagine a £20 Heads Up PLO going off at that time of day. Next they were 1st in a £5 Turbo DYM at 0835, then 3rd in a late morning £150 BH after which he logged off. Took a break than until 8pm (13th in a £300 BH), then won the Mini, and played through until the early hours of this morning with 3rd in a 02.30 £100 BH & 2nd in a 0300 BH. I'm guessing our Mystery Man enjoys his poker. Plenty of familiar faces on the Mini FT including @TKDROB, serial casher @LittleGJ who was also 3rd in 7 @ 7, & in 6th @Jac35who really is a very useful golfer indeed & has been very helpful to me in my struggles to come to terms with the game. Learning to play golf again is HARD at my age, believe me, & it's not false modesty to say I'm utter shite at the game. I do enjoy the struggle though, & it's a great test of character to withstand the frustrations & humiliations I have to endure on the course when I repeatedly duff shots.
Sheriff made just 11 uniques & 5 rebuys, and the surprise winner was @Tomsiiiwho was playing their first session here for just under 4 years & has played just 49 games in total. Welcome back & all that.
@KazuyaDWhas been here just 3 or 4 weeks & played barely a dozen MTT's. On Monday they ran 4th in the 21.45 £150 BH, & on Tuesday played it again & run 2nd. You'd assume they would try again last night, but no, upgraded to the 9 & 9 & got the win, which was their first win & thread debut.
Think we can doff our hats to @BEANIE who won a Mini last month, a Mega last week, & the £1k Rebuy BH last night.
Having run 2nd in Mega at the weekend, @Terrie went one better last night. I notice he also got 2nd in the big nightly PLO8 on Monday too.
Delighted to see the PLO8 went to @JammyFker who is a terrific bloke, and so, in turn, the Table Chat in that one was much better last night that it was on Tuesday & many other nights. It gets very toxic in this one some evenings, with horrible abuse back & forth by the same small group of players. Imagine playing a fiver comp & getting bent out of shape, it beggars belief. If I ever ended up arguing every night over a fiver MTT I'd be ashamed of myself. Come on guys, try burying hatchets & making nice. Apart from anything else, it's unfair on the other players who just want a fivers worth of fun after a hard day in the real world.
To end on a brighter note, @Moon_Riverwon 7 @ 7. Which gives me the opening I need to put up a bit of music. Moon River is a very old - & old-fashioned - classic, made famous originally by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, & then Andy Williams. Not of much relevance these days you'd think, so it was a bit of a surprise - & a very pleasant one - when Eric Clapton & the late Jeff Beck gave it a bash. When you fancy a ruck, or someone is maybe getting on your nerves, put this on, close your eyes & chill.
