The thing that intrigues me is this.

It looks like Sunak told a bunch of people that he was going to call an early election. Including (it would seem) his campaign manager and 1 of his personal protection officers. People who have rewarded receiving this info by Insider Trading. Appalling that those that are standing to be MPs are still endorsed as Candidates-compare/contrast with the prompt action by the Police.

Whereas he didn't tell his MPs. The ones who are going to lose their jobs.

Which might partly explain why so few Tory MPs are actually helping him in this Election...

Sunak is in a terrible position. And has been for some time.

Cameron won an Election. And was forced out. Then May won an Election. And was forced out. Then Johnson won an Election. And was forced out. Truss was forced out before getting near an Election.

What chance has Sunak got when he loses an Election?

If he had so much has hinted he wanted to call an early election, then the disloyal Tory MPs in his own ranks would have been busy briefing journalists how stupid it would be to call an early Election.

Because, for a significant minority of Tory MPs this Election is far more about who is going to be the next Tory Leader than the next PM.

Which is why 1 of the few Tory Big Beasts to actually be fighting the Election is Gove. Because he is retiring from frontline politics. Whereas most of the more moderate Tory MPs face a massive battle to hold on to their seat.

What a self-entitled ignoranus that men is. Both an idiot. And an ar5ehole.

The days of people betting on themselves, to win or to lose, are long gone. Simply because they have insider information that the Bookies do not have. Let me give 2 simple examples to show this.

It is now becoming abundantly clear that the Tories have not been fighting to win this election. Just not to lose it too badly. But there are 2 things Sir Philip Davies forgets to mention

Sunak has clearly been targeting only certain seats. Ones he thinks he can win. So (for example) AFAIK he hasn't been seen at any constituencies with a Majority of less than 10,000. He has already given up on those. Like, for example, Sir Philip Davies' seat.

So-what info was he privy to that the bookmakers were not?

    1. He is married to Esther McVey. Majority about 18,000. Think he just might have noticed the differing priorities? Or been told?
    2. He (and his wife) also work for GB News. Who are campaigning hard for the Tories. But-in addition to his work as MP and married to a Member of the Cabinet, he would have been privy to all sorts of data in his role as journalist.

As soon as someone by virtue of their jobs is privy to insider info, they are not allowed to bet on the outcome.

And, if he doesn't realise that, then he is an even bigger idiot than I thought.

He should lose his seat just for making that bet
These are the people who are supposed to be working for the people yet all bar none are looking out for themselves
    I'm dismayed with politics

Agree 100%. Most of them are just in it for themselves at the moment.

Things need to change dramatically. Where are the "Statesmen" or women (Statespersons?) and the honest and decent people willing to represent the people of the Country?

imo politics is simply a jobs for the boys culture. it dont matter how good you are or what you know, its about who you know and what school/uni you attended.

What's the old saying ? Those that can, do. Those that can't, teach?
Maybe that should be changed to - Those that can, do. Those that can't, teach. Those that can't teach go into politics.

Seriously, it's quite depressing, isn't it? SO many corrupt politicians now. There have always been a few wrong 'uns, but it seems much more widespread now.

This betting thing really has exposed so many. Politicians (of all hues), Party workers, policemen. We seem to live in times when there is no shame about being dishonest.

I'm the most disillusioned I've ever been about the current situation in this country, I don't think ANY of the parties are capable of forming an effective Government. Ironically I think the Tories handled one of the worst situations ever to challenge a Government quite well, i.e. the pandemic, but then they are let down by individuals showing an utter contempt for the public they are meant to serve with the PPE scandal, partygate and the recent betting scandal for example. The public feel completely let down, as they should do.

BUT, all this is indicative of problems at a much more base level, children are not being brought up properly and when children have no respect for others they grow up into adults who have no respect for others, this leads to criminality. We have also developed into a society where a large proportion want everything without working for it, this also leads to criminality. Everyone blames the Government, it's much more worrying than that, it's parents, schools, peer groups, social media, television and none of those groups want to take any of the blame, they just blame others.

Imagine if a candidate said any of that, they would have absolutely no chance of getting elected, so they all spout nonsense about how they can solve all the problems others are creating, without calling out those that are creating them.
