Wetherspoons are giving 7.5% off food and drink today to highlight what a VAT reduction in the hospitality industry could look like, However, if you're in Scotland, alcohol won't be included in the discount, why ?.
Recently ah was on a major pub chains website looking at their 2 hr bottomless brunch thinking " ah'll have some of that " then ah read the small print " drinkers in Scotland are restricted to 5 drinks ", why ?.
What are they trying to say ?, is it that this stupid government up here not allowing it ?, they have already **** us with the unit pricing, ( which according to reports has made no difference ), why are we being discriminated against.

Minimum unit pricing for alcohol in Scotland
Last updated 22 Aug 2024
Minimum unit pricing sets a minimum price per unit of alcohol that it can be sold at.
The minimum unit price for alcohol is currently 50p per unit.
From 30 September 2024, it will increase to 65p per unit.
Anyone with a licence to sell alcohol cannot sell it cheaper than this to the public. This applies whether you have a premises licence or occasional licence.
