I really have no idea, but there's one thing I do whenever I see something in the news, or when some idiot says "Sky Poker is rigged" or whatever.
I do something called "sense-check". As in "common-sense check".
The earth is flat.
Man did not really land on the Moon.
Trump's theory that injecting ourselves with bleach cures COVID.
An aeroplane did not really crash into the Pentagon on 9/11.
2 + 2 = 7
ALL of these can be sense-checked. Just look at the sentence, think about it, & ignore any advice.
Then say to ourselves...
"Can that really be correct?"
A great example is 5G Masts for cellular telephones.
Team Idiot were saying "anyone living near those masts will get brain cancer".
That was 10 years ago. We now have 5G right across the UK. And there has been zero measurable increase in brain cancer.
Yoi go to Tesco & do your weekly shop, which usually comes to, say, £100.
Suddenly, you press the "PAY" button & it says "£1,287".
We don't have to check the bill or add it up - sense-checking tells us it must be incorrect.

3. Argue with yourself – and don’t pull the punches
4. Imagine “what if…”
5. Don’t underestimate the checklist
