This day last year
"Pleasantly busy last night, with Avenger Main making £8,900 compared with £7,780 last year, a 15% y-o-y improvement.
@Natnug took the Avenger Main honours & with it over £1,900 in prize money. In 2022 he was the most profitable MTT-er on Sky Poker, & the bookies may as well pay out on him repeating the trick this year, he's $14,000 clear of the player in 2nd place with less than 3 months to go. Earning his best cash of the month, @PKRPar was 4th.
A tremendous result in the Mini which @Michael_M won for at least the third time, & this was easily the most lucrative, worth close to £700.
BWBH saw a sensational win for @Slimmish, as far as I can tell his best previous results in 3+ years here were a couple of 7 @ 7 wins. Did it the hard way too, starting with winning two £5.20 Quarters, then qualifying via the £24 Semi, then scooping £1,365 in the actual event, not a bad return for £5.20. Beat a decent FT too, with @TIMBER 2nd, @rspca12 3rd & @mattprawn 4th.
Despite an excellent CV with plenty of headline wins including a Super Mini, a UKOPS Mini, some regular Minis & countless Quickdraws & Reloads, @GREGSTER only had 1 previous 9 @ 9 win but he doubled that last night.
Two talking points in the £1k BH. 1st was @Rockyace who joined Sky Poker last year, played exactly 1 MTT & has not been since until showing up last night, playing 4 MTT's & booking the win in this one. And in 2nd place was @eaturchips who somehow managed 23 heads (10% of the field) without actually winning. I assume he was part of the eatmystack collective which was very active back in the day but as far as I can tell is defunct now. Plenty of good players started out in that place.
@PBKR has been an infrequent visitor of late but is having a decent October, he's already won a 7 @ 7 & a £1k Rebuy BH this month, & he added Quickdraw last night. A really decent player who struggles to fold K-K when he's obviously behind but always finds a way of getting there, the lucky ****.
In the opening Week 3 Elim Freeroll @reeler well & truly smashed it out of the park, securing 21 Heads. For context, the Week One winner only took 28 heads, & in Week Two the winner got 37 heads. @reeler has 21 after 1 day.
Finally, in the UKOPS Rewards Freeroll, @pegasuso10 won himself a £220 UKOPS High Roller seat. Heady heights for a player who has a £0.28 ABI on DYM's & a £1.94 ABI in MTT's. Be fabulous if he managed a deep run.

As expected, the England game impacted MTT traffic significantly, & 7 of the Featured MTT's missed guarantee, though most of them only by trifling amounts (Main £10, Mini £140, Mega £40, Sheriff £100, Reload £18, Turbo £10 & Quickdraw £280). So around £600 in total, of which, rather surprisingly I thought, almost half came from Quickdraw.
A very fine night indeed for @Style who won the Main & then made it a double by taking down Turbo too. @Style has now had 3 big wins in October already - Summit, Hitman Main & Turbo. 2nd in last night's Main was @Blaiseee who won last Friday's Avenger Main. @Swifteyyeu who won his seat in a £7.20 Direct Satellite, was 6th, & later went on to finish 4th in Turbo.
@SamJay took the Mini, that's at least 3 times he's won it as I know he won it twice in 2022. @thedazzman who won a £300 Rebuy a few nights ago, was 3rd, with @235467 in 6th, & as it happens he was also 6th in the Rebuy BH.
It was not just @Style who was a double winner last night, @Swog had two wins too, taking Mega & Quickdraw, plus 3rd in MidEx & 6th in Sheriff. Arguably one of the most improved players on the site. He played a fair amount of the recent WCOOP & made a good few bob. The most impressive thing was that on another platform he gave us daily write-ups of his WCOOP performances & he never once moaned about a bad beat. An example to all. I'm convinced that before poker players can play in Tourneys, they should have to prove that they can handle bad beats without wailing, hooting & hollering. If they can't, just ban them. If bad beats upset them they can't be enjoying the game much, & for sure they make it worse for the more adult & sensible players who take bad beats in their stride. Handling a bit of adversity well - especially in something so trivial as poker - is essential to enjoyment of the game. If you only enjoy poker when you win, it's time to quit.
The Rebuy BH went to @Arrogant which was his 4th Featured MTT win inside a week, as he'd already won last Saturday's Mini & then on Monday won both 7 @ 7 & Turbo.
@nickkay took down the 7 @ 7 just days after running 3rd in a middle-of-the-night £300 Turbo.
@I_Will plays Reload most nights & was rewarded with 1st place last night.
9 @ 9 was won by @blablabla who has a slew of decent results on his CV, the best of which was 1st place in a 2022 Summit worth around £1,500 to him. 5th & 6th in last night's 9 @9 went to two players who are both showing a bit of current form, @claudel9 & @MynaFrett.
@kreeper only joined Sky Poker at the beginning of this month & after playing just a dozen MTT booked their first win last, taking MidEx.
@reeler won the Elim Freeroll, which is interesting, because in today's "This day last year" I wrote "in the opening Week 3 Elim Freeroll @reeler well & truly smashed it out of the park, securing 21 Heads". I'll be amazed, though pleasantly surprised, if he got that many heads last night.

Tonight's football highlight is Iceland v Wales. Hmm. Trying to find a positive spin on that, let's hope they do better than England did last night.
