Ah live in a Cooncil hoose and have just found oot we are getting panels fitted next week. Ah live in the West coast of Scotland and as anybody knows who has ever been there it's like the Bahamas.
Have the Cooncil lost their mind ?, are they cost efficient ?, had a brief look online and it takes roughly 12 years to break even and the panels last between 20 to 30 years.
Would they not be better payin 50% of our leccy bills for 10/12 years or more, because fitting these must cost a pretty penny or am ah missing something here.

It won't take you 12 years as I take it you're not paying for them. I wonder how much your Council Tax will go up by next year to pay for them though. :)

In certain circumstances they can make sense (right orientation, good batteries, high usage etc etc) and now the ability to use an EV tariff should help (giving the ability to charge your battery up at 25% of the normal electrcity cost overnight and then use that during the day).

I would imagine that they've chsoen to fit these rather than help you with your bills as they have surplus cash atm and the last thing they want to do is have a surplus at the end of the year.
