Startling staircases that have definitely tripped people before.
Every home has a few drawbacks, right? When you're searching for a home, it's not easy, and there are a ton of things to consider. Is the house old or new? Is it near schools or in a good neighbourhood? Are there mysterious leaks, heavy drafts, or rotting wood? No house is exactly perfect, and they all have a few things wrong with them. If you're lucky, it'll be minor issues like squeaky floorboards or a drafty basement. And if you're unlucky, you'll wind up in a home like the ones below, which have some of the most unhinged staircases you'll ever witness.
All of these staircases are dangerous. Just look at them! Some are built with steps so narrow that people can't even fit their whole foot onto one step. Others are made of slippery materials or placed in inopportune places. (There's one set of stairs in a bar bathroom that just needs to be seen to be believed… it's like the bar is just begging for lawsuits from patrons who tumble down after having a few drinks!) There's also a trend of staircases that are "floating," meaning they have a stepping surface, but don't have any surrounding material between the stairs. This seems ill-advised, but if it looks pretty, some house hunter is going to want it!
