As predicted yesterday, a superb evening of televised football was sure to impact traffic & so it proved, we had a shocker with overlay left right & centre, worst of all being Main & Mini which came up a combined £670 short. Ouchio. Every cloud & all that, at least the players had some super value.
It was @Swog night last night, he took down both the Main & the Turbo. I know him well enough "in the flesh" that I have no desire or need to BSUHA but this fella is a great example to all poker players. Been here around 13 years, for most of which he was just another player with no particular edge or superior skillset. But he decided to apply himself, signed up to a training siter or two, had a bit of a Study Group, & really worked hard at his game. Now, in % terms, he has a seriously high ROI, does well on other sites as well as here, & has already had some seriously big binks on the Live circuit. And being a good winning player is not just about playing better, it's about mindset, & he understands almost better than anyone I know the absolute futility of moaning day after day about bad beats. He gets the same beats we all do, but he says nothing & just moves on. I doubt he even "feels" bad beats, it's a mindset thing, if you are one of those crushing bores who moan day after day about "I run so bad", seriously, quit the game because you are not temperamentally suited to it. Poker is a game for grown-ups, not spoilt children. Oh, & here's a rare piece of poker advice from me. Don't share a table with @Swog, he's SUCH a PITA to play against. Don't think he understands the term "any chance of a walk?".
In the Mini, it was another example (we saw several yesterday) of a player doing well upon returning from an MTT break. @JGIBBRFC (a Rugby player perhaps?) was playing an MTT for the first time in 4 months, & just their 7th MTT in 2024, and their last 100 MTT's have taken 5 years. Last night's victory was their biggest £££ result in 14 years here. Rather oddly, their best two results were within 3 weeks of each other all the way back in 2010. For balance, it should be noted that 90% of their play is at the cash tables, so it's entirely possible that they've not been AWOL. Had to beat a decent Mini FT too, with @seikus 2nd, @mainspring 3rd & @loololollo in 6th. Oh, & @loolollo was 6th in both Main & Mini, so he collects a £50 FTJ bonus, just to completes Sky Poker's misery on a bad night. Could have been much worse I guess if he'd won a few more flips...
The @addo07 Express shows no sign of slowing down, another two wins last night, Rebuy BH & Quickdraw, from just 8 MTT's played. That comes just 10 days since that rarest of beasts, a win treble, as he took Mega, Sheriff & Quickdraw all on the same night. Has the honour of winning perhaps the biggest Sunday Major ever, at the height of boomlet, with 275 runners & a 1st prize of nearly £8,300, in May 2020. Yikes. For nerds & geeks of these sort of things - Guilty, M'lord - have a look at his Sharky graph, it's extraordinary - dead flat (breakeven) for 12 years then near vertical since.
A very thin Sheriff (14 entries, 2 rebuys) went to @forman03 who I don't really know but who has an ABI of £25. The only history I can find is 5th in a 2020 BWBH. Back to last night's Sheriff, @chkngeorge was 2nd & @NChanning snuck into 6th & place & got a Head Prize but no prize money. He had a good night elsewhere though, his Betting Emporium followers got treated to a lovely 3/1 winner thanks to Aberdeen beating Rangers. @loololollo who was 6th in both Main & Mini was 5th. Bit of a "so near but so far" night for Crushy.
Mega went to @Ramoerrr who has a wicked CV which includes wins in a UKOPS High Roller, three Sunday Majors, an Avenger Main & a bunch of £110 Summits & BWBH's.
@Jeni82 only played the Elim Freeroll & 9 @ 9, winning the latter for the 2nd time in 18 months. Claim to fame has to be winning Reload no less than 12 times.
@GREGSTER won himself a UKOPS High Roller seat in the Rewards Freeroll, & in the UKOPS Main Event Freeroll (usually the Sunday Major Freeroll) @MynaFrett booked themselves a UKOPS Main Event seat which I just know they'll enjoy, win or lose.
Tonight? There's no Live football on TV, except a bit of Serie A stuff, so no excuses. Remember though, UKOPS starts tomorrow, so keep that powder dry, a 10 day UKOPS can get expensive.
