After the opening night flurry, last night was a little quieter as is always the case with the first Saturday of a Autumn UKOPS. Reasonable numbers all the same, with prize pools beating guarantees by a combined 17%, though I have to report that the Turbo BH missed by three entries. Not a disaster by any means, trivial really, but for those with OCD - well hello there - it grated somewhat.
Worth noting that after Day 1 @chrisdonkb was the UKOPS Leaderboard leader, but I expect that to change after Day 2's results. Flash in the pan if you ask me.
The Day 2 opener went to @roytheboy7 who has had a few decent wins in the last 12 months, including an Avenger Main last December & a Sharpshooter Main early this year. Is in his 10th year here & is almost exclusively an MTT player, quite profitable too, & I'm fairly sure this was his first UKOPS win though, & biggest score to date. For readers who are younger than me - there may be a few of you - I assume the alias derives from a poker player back in the day, Roy Brindley. In those days for inexplicable reasons, all poker players had a nickname, & Roy's was "Roy the Boy". In his time he was amongst the best players in Europe but then the game changed & like many of us he got left behind. If you get the chance, read the book "Life's a Gamble" by (the real) Roy, it's a fascinating read. In those days he & I were good mates, but we drifted apart, as you do, & Roy got into other things, including parenthood. These days he's something of a specialist in F1 betting. Having smothered you in all that splurge, I feel should point out that the "real" Roy Brindley & @roytheboy7 are different people. Probably. As a further aside, there are TWO books about poker players with the identical title "Life's a Gamble", one by Roy Brindley, whilst the other featured the late Mike Sexton.
Runner-up was @PRhack93 and if you are paying attention you'd be aware he had a great Day 1, winning UKOPS 01 & running deep in the £220 HR, so he'll be prominent when the Leaderboard is published later today.
This was the night's Main, with the win going to @albania who really is quite a character. In fact he won TWO UKOPS last night, as he took the Turbo too. Has the very unusual distinction of winning TWO UKOPS "Main" events in the same year, as he won the 2017 Easter version & then the Xmas version 8 months later, those two wins alone being worth over £16,000. Very accomplished player indeed, though we've not seen much of him here in recent years, just 30 or so MTT's this year & a dozen in 2023.
2nd was @Natnug who you know all about. Been a little quiet of late but remains on course to be the most profitable MTT player on Sky Poker this year, & in doing so he'll have held that title for 3 years now. Handy? Just a bit.
A terrific result for @steveysee in 3rd. He's been winning the MML week after week in 2024, which is a collection of low stake MTT's & rather than take the 1st prize of a £33 Main Event entry every week he's been saving them up for UKOPS. I think he's entered around 14 UKOPS events with his MML winnings, & I'm quite certain he'll be chuffed to bits to have banked almost £1,000 by Day 2.
A big surprise in 5th, as @Shrimpy28 somehow blundered his way into 5th place. As poker players go he's not much kop, and as a football fan he does not really have a clue, he's still not realised that Mikel Arteta is England's best football manager, but those failings aside, he's a decent bloke & with 9 kids of school age he's a devoted Dad.

This was the "Mini", with @brick123 securing his biggest ever result here on Sky Poker, Been here around 5 years & is low volume, with his play split almost exactly* 50-50 between Cash Games & MTT's.
Quite a dust up this one, with the ridiculously aggro @roddy28 in 2nd & the perhaps more considered @MynaFrett finishing 3rd for their 2nd FT of the Series, having run 5th in the Day 1 Mega.
In 4th was 'Spurs fan @TommyD who has been with us since Day One, & even been to Vegas with us back in the day. If my memory has not completely failed me, (there's a tap-in for you) he was the Sky Poker Viva Las Vegas Beer Pong Champion in around 2010.
*Apologies for using the rather stupid & wholly inaccurate term "almost exactly".
@Brick123 1598000 1 £839.80 + £375.82 Head Prizes 16
It was almost inevitable that @StayOrGo would win at least one of these & so it proved, & it was almost as likely that his Son @Limp2Lose would share a UKOPS FT with Dad too. Lovely to see, though if truth were told, I bet Dad would be delighted to see his Son take the win. Then again, he's super competitive....
Quite a night for @Upswing who made two UKOPS FT's - this, & UKOPS 13 - & was the FT bubbler in the Mini.
In 4th was @gutshotter who finished the 2023 Autumn UKOPS by winning an event on the very last day.
@StayOrGo 498000 1 £463.97 + £208.57 Head Prizes 8
This was the 2nd win of the evening for our friend @albania who I discussed at length earlier.
Having won the previous event @StayOrGo so neatly made it a back-to-back double but came up one spot shy.
In 3rd was @47OH who only joined Sky Poker earlier this year & is mainly a cash game player. Has hit form in MTT's this week though, running 4th in Wednesday's Predator Main & 3rd here, those two cashes being their best results so far.
This was the Day 2 closer & what a battle there was for the podium spots, with @GFKIJKLL on the top step, then @Gambelo followed by @FlynTimber. We all know we have to take Sharky rankings with a pinch of salt, but the average ranking of those three is 90, so when those three are on a FT, it can't be much fun for the others.
@claudel9 was 4th, one spot better than he managed in the Day 1 Mini and, as previously noted, @Upswing in 5th was making his w2nd FT of the night, & in fact was one place shy of three Day 2 FT's.
@GFKIJKLL 354000 1 £336.30 + £214.15 Head Prizes 12
