    2 quick comments on this.

    1. Don't believe 1 side (any side) when they seek to value a claim. Particularly when they are on a %age of whatever they manage to get. "Conservative" average of £4,000? In their dreams.

    2. A bit of law that desperately needs to change. Because it is being abused, particularly by consumer "champions". A percentage should be exactly what it says on the tin. £X per £100X. That's what a percentage is. Per centum is per 100. When someone is seeking a fee of "50% + VAT" that is not 50%. It is 60%. No-one dealing with consumers, where the business is VAT-registered, should ever be quoting excluding VAT.

    WARNING: Legal cynicism incoming

Suppose for a second this claim goes well. And suppose the average claim is worth £1,000 (because someone who bought a new Mercedes, all things being equal, is going to get more than average, and someone who bought a 3-yr-old Hyundai less).

And suppose an individual firm of Solicitors is acting for 10,000 claimants (sounds like some will be acting for more). Who will be doing a lot of work, paying experts, barristers etc

Average amount per person who suffered the loss? £400
Amount for the firm of Solicitors? £6 million

I know. The Solicitors are all heart :)
