"A slightly different format to today's write-up. It's hard - really hard - to keep these things fresh &, hopefully, from time to time, interesting. We'll keep trying though.


Last night's Main made £5,340, virtually identical to last year which was £5,250. Similar story with Sheriff too, £1,200 last night, £1,150 last year. Ditto the Rebuy BH, £1,435 last night, £1,405 last year.

I almost feel like apologising for my fixation - obsession even? - with numbers, but they fascinate me.

Anyway, on we go. There were two players who had an outstanding night, & we'll start with @MikeyW94, who most of you "know" so to speak. Here's his full schedule & results last night;

Mini - 28th

Sheriff - 1st

Turbo - 2nd

Quickdraw - 6th



So, 5 games, 4 FT's & 2 wins. Spectacular stuff by any standards.

Our other star turn was @T_Bundy & it's possible to argue he did even better. He played just 3 MTT's as follows;


Main - 5th

Mini - 3rd

Turbo - 1st



So, three MTT's played, finishing 1st, 3rd & 5th.

In both cases, the power of variance seen at it's very best. Both are good players, but variance can appear to make them much better - or worse.

Continuing that theme, you may have spotted that @T_Bundy was 5th in Main & 3rd in Mini, so gets £200 from the FTJ fund. Which neatly brings us back to our friend/foe "variance", as that's the 3rd time in 4 nights there has been a FTJ winner. Here's a Post about that which I wrote on another thread this morning.

The Sky Poker Final Table Jackpot takes quite a bit of winning.

Broadly speaking, the Main get ~180 entries, the Mini ~270, & to win a share of the Jackpot a player has to finish in the top six of both, on the same night.

The FTJ "runs" 365 nights per year. Pure guess on my part, but a FTJ payout probably takes place 12 to 15 times per year. (May be slightly more, but I don't keep records).

This week it's happened 3 times in 4 nights.

Morning.

Real life matters have interrupted my normal routine this morning (pleasantly so, I might add) so will have to exercise a degree of brevity today.

UKOPS hangover continues, though a little less severe last night with £630 of overlay accumulated from 6 of the featured affairs. It's part of the cost of a UKOPS I suppose.

The Main went to @Fabraclass & he made it a double by taking down MidEx too. Splits his play 70% MTT's/DYM's & 30% cash & seems to do equally well in all of them. Solid volume, 30,000 DYM's & 16,000 MTT's. Despite being in his 15th year here I don't really know much about him at all. You can tell a lot about a player from what they say in the Table Chat Boxes but he very rarely comments, though when he does he is always polite & deferential. Seems to have improved significantly in the last 12 months, during which time he's now won 7 regular Mains - 2 Avengers, 2 Marksman, 2 Predators & a Gold Rush. 7 Mains in a year is very much upper quartile.

An interesting winner in the Mini, & I'm assuming @lufcjp20 is a Leeds United fan. Been here 3 years, played just 31 MTT's, and incredibly, last night was his first appearance in the MTT streets since 2022. The wonders of variance are truly something to behold.

It was a very thin Sheriff last night, just 11 entries & 3 rebuys, but what a FT it was with @Tedson taking the win ahead of @loololollo @ChipDiddy0 @PAPABURG @NChanning & @heellloooo. With Prize Money (excluding bounties) only going to the top three, that was some tough gig.

The three early ones went to players we don't see too often in these threads, with @chippy102 taking the £800 BH, @whirlybabe the 7 @ 7 & @Tpot66 the Rebuy BH.

On Tuesday @ANY_2 was 4th in 7 @ 7 & he did better in it's big brother last night by taking 1st place.

Very pleased - surprised almost - to see the Brighton Semi run again, with seats going at the first time of trying to @scuba61 & @coo1-um. See you in Brighton, lads.

Tonight England are in action against Greece, so poker numbers won't be great. Deep joy.
