Last night me and the wife were having a couple of refreshments, we were watching music on You Tube, picking a song each to play to pass a couple of hours.
So it was ma turn and ah picked this ....

She asked, who's this ?, GG ah says, she goes aff on a maddy, it's only a song with a good video ah say, she wasn't having it.
Needless to say it put a damper on the night, but was ah wrong ?.

    Not at all.

Saw Gary Glitter 3 times before it was discovered what a monster he is.

There are ways of buying his music from sources that ensure his victims get any benefit. Rather than him.

Because I can like his music. Without liking him.

My first thoughts were, yes, this is a bad thing to do as playing this track gives GG royalties.

I dug a little deeper, which wasn't difficult as we live in the internet age and things are easy to find.

    And I discovered.

The rights to Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll Part 2" are owned by Snapper Music, a London-based label that acquired them in 1997. Gary Glitter reportedly no longer benefits directly from royalties for this song. Instead, any royalties generated from the track's use, such as in films like Joker, go to Snapper Music or other associated entities

    EDIT 1

Maybe GG will profit from Royalties-Its complicated.

So my general knowledge for celebrities is not great was that song written by Garry Glitter? he liked them young right?

well regardless its a good song, been a decent person and having talent at something do not correlate they are irrelevant to each other.

Quite a few great basketball players have sexual offences or other very negative stuff on their record. It means cant route for them but doesnt change the fact they played the game well.

Plenty of music performers have negative stuff about them I like quite a bit Of Kanye West music but doesnt mean I like or validate the person.

Maybe I have my own personal take on Batman and see something the original writer did not intend or maybe that was their intention.

However what I liked about Batman is a lot of films and stories portray supposedly realistic plot lines with unrealistic characters, characters that are seemingly completely good or completely evil.

Where as Batman has characters that are shades of grey and much more realistic with ridiculous plot lines almost like it is parodying the main stream films.

I find myself often frustrated and despondent with society, its amazing how so many people are eager to be awful people to look like decent people. They will excuse and defend the most outrageous in the name of decency yet hang out decent people to dry for minor infractions like swearing or burping.

Eventually one snaps and just becomes a troll mocking the world and those that pretend to be decent.

This world has little time left and its because most people are complete narcissists, I like to think that there is some beauty in that, eg evolution naturally expunges the corrupt and evil civilizations, sparing the rest of the universe the suffering they could spread and instead proliferates the decent.

Though I fear we could be all that is.

I hope that intelligent aliens watch us with the non interference principle waiting to welcome us if we ever sort ourselves out but let us ultimately destroy ourselves sparing the rest of the universe our insidious presence.

    I like the batman films.

The problem is not his music. The problem is the pedophilia.

You could still visit Germany in the 30s and not be a Nazi or advocate Nazism.

She brought up the singer from the " Lost Prophets " and asked would you play his music ?, which to be honest ah don't think ah would.
Ah think the last word she said before good night was " hypocrite ".

Now you mention it i really struggle in situations where a bunch of Michael Jackson fans are sat idolising him and i definitely avoid playing his music nowadays. And ye, no way am i playing Lost Prophets.

Fundamentally tho it is not wrong to play their music, imo.

Paedophilia is many things. But, for most of them, it is also an illness. It is also a sad fact that most paedophiles were themselves abused as kids. Dealt with a fair few in my career-the 1 I vividly remember was the (only) 1 who was proud of it. Most are sad inadequate human beings

There is also a question of degree. I'm certainly not defending the actions of a grown man who likes 12-15 year-olds. But that is not the same as a grown man with babies.
