As played, you had correct odds to bet, even on that evil winner. You were getting big odds-4/1 ish.
IMO, you are looking at this from the wrong direction. If the villain is on the hand on that River and those bets, he gets the double up. Whereas, if he didn't, he has enough behind to get away from the hand
So the key is bet sizing. To do 1 of 3 things:-
1. To drive him out; or
2. To ensure he is pot committed on the flop or turn (or at least has put more chips in); or
3. To bet smaller, so you can get away from an evil River
A lot boils down to personal choice. My style is 2, followed by 1. Not a fan of 3.
But (and I know it is easy with hindsight) your bet sizing was not optimal. It is not that, as it turns out, you lost. It is that, had you won the hand, you would not have won as much as you should
A bet of 500 on the flop and 800 on the turn would gain you a lot of chips over time in that spot
Here's my take
After having a free flop and hitting massively but seeing the two clubs i'da bet , pretty big , probably pot (leak)and not c/r
once called , more than likely another pot bet or even all in with your stack on the turn
Low stakes people love calling down flush draws so i'm trying to take it down on the turn
River =world of pain and i'm on to the next tourney
As played, agree with @Essexphil . Definitely check-raise bigger on flop with intention of trying to get it in on turn.
Probably going to struggle to fold river unless very specific notes on villain.
GL at the tables
There is always a fine line between not betting enough and letting people in, and betting too much and scaring people off, as opposed to winning enough uncontested chips.
Good hand to look at all of that.
horrible river thou, given not just that the flush came in but also your str got degraded too a one card str!
did you push on the river? or did you check too the Villain and then the Villain pushed?
i ask cause it says on the screen you had an unmatched bet off 850!
if you did check - its a close one! I think the Villain may have a big enough jam on the river (just by about maybe 200) for you too walk away!
but I don't know what else the Villain could have, two pair and trips if they don't go all in on the turn! are gonna check that river!
the Villain really with his size off stack should have put you all in on the turn!
