    This day last year


    "Christmas Eve & all that, so a fairly brief write-up this morning.

    After being mostly AWOL since winning a £500 BH 5 days earlier, @ForeSight returned to the fray last night & took down Sharpshooter Main. This was their 5th best score all-time, a list headed by a boomlet Gold Rush Main in 2020 which netted over £2,000, & which came just 48 hours after winning a UKOPS Mini.

    @king1loui3     is another recent returnee after a month's sabbatical, & the rest seems to have worked wonders as he won the Mini. 3rd was @snoxx11 with @RogueCell 4th.

    @Awoken has only been here 3 months but is starting to find their stride. Began the month with their first featured MTT win, taking Mega, and won it again last night. Had a good few FT's too, so might be one to keep an eye on. @Lee_Boy has had a wonderful week, 1st & 2nd in Minis, 1st in the £1k BH & now 3rd in Mega.

    9 @ 9 went to @greg1974 who also won a £500 BH the previous night. A fabulous performance saw @coo1-um finish 3rd, he also ran 4th in the opener, both of which will do his current challenge no harm at all.

    @Gigitygoon won the £1k BH & after a bit of delving it seems he has a decent CV which includes wins in Sheriff, 7 @ 7, Rebuy BH, & a handful of £1k BH's.

    @THEHOFF07 won 7 @ 7 for the 2nd time this month & an amazing 5th time this year. Won a Sharpy Mini earlier this year too.

    @Dingle1234 had a cracking session, starting off by winning a seat to the Major in the nightly Freeroll, & ending it with 1st place in MidEx.

    Morning.

    If ever you doubted that big sporting events on TV have a huge effect on Online Poker, last night should have laid those thoughts to rest. Decent traffic all evening, then as the Fury - Usyk fight drew near, & took place, traffic fell off a cliff, with the £1,000 guarantee Turbo suffering £460 of overlay & the £1,000 Quickdraw missing by £220. In the case of the Turbo, £460 overlay on a £1k MTT might just be a record of sorts. And after the boxing finished, traffic snap returned to normal, with MidEx coming in at £1,200. Anyway, that was a nice Christmas gift from Sky Poker.

    Today's write-up will be somewhat stunted as Sharky seems to have thrown a wobbler & missed some of last night's MTT's, including the Main.

    Winner of that Main was @Sharki0 and as it happens he's not on Sharky anyway. What we do know is that he's in his 11th year here & has done very well indeed both at cash games (the majority of his play) & MTT's. Runner-up @S2H_19 was playing just his 8th MTT since August, one of which resulted in 11th place in an Avenger Main 3 weeks ago, but I fancy the £590 he collected last night is almost certainly a 16 year personal best on Sky Poker.

    @LittleGJ really invested time & energy (& £££'s) yesterday, starting his sesh before noon & playing for 12 hours straight. Did OK though, the highlight being 1st place in the Mini, in addition to which he won a £300 BH, 2nd in a £200 Deep Stack, 2nd in a £100 Deep Stack, 5th in a £500 BH, 6th in a £300 Rebuy, and 8th in 7 @ 7. Solid.

    In the £800 BH victory went to @BUD50 who probably prefers PLO8. Not his first or biggest NLH win though, he won a £1k BH in 2022 which was worth a tad more.

    We'll ignore 7 @ 7 today because I can't bring myself to type the winner's alias. I'm unbelievably chilled these days but there are some things that still exercise me.

    The £1k Rebuy BH went to @keith1963 & I'm going to take a wild stab & guess that he's around 61 years old. Been here a very long time, used to be a stalwart of the old DTD games (remember them?) and I doubt he's had many bigger wins than last night.

    An interesting one in Sheriff which was won by @MrCoals1 who has been here some years but barely played until the last few weeks. Exactly a week ago he won Sharpshooter Main, & probably only @JammyFker will remember that as were it not for @MrCoals1 @JammyFker would have won the full £5,000 FTJ. A Sharpshooter Main & a Sheriff in a week, from just 39 MTT's lifetime means we have to put him in our "one to watch" file.

    Mega went to @funkybunch & if that name rings a bell it's maybe because he was 3rd in it the previous night, but if we go back a little further he's also notched up wins in Sharpshooter Main & a Sunday Major.

    @Stickleb1 took the 9 @ 9, his best score since winning a Mini Marksman in September.

    Reload was won by @elderon who I suspect had his best ever score when winning the Sunday night £5k BH in January of last year.

    Arguably the hottest player on the site right now is @utang who probably achieved a Sky Poker first last night - on Thursday he won both Turbo & Quickdraw, & he repeated the trick last night, winning them both again. He's actually won Turbo 3 times in 8 nights. Yes, fairly small fields, & yes, variance da de da, but it still takes some doing, & his Sharky graph is looking better & better. If he had a POTW, it'd surely be him.
