Couldn't sleep last night. So actually watched most of Trump's speech.
The man turns a simple truth into an outrageous lie. 1 simple example was the (rather long) diatribe about the millions of people in the social Security system that are over 130 years old.
He made this sound as though he had uncovered a massive cost saving. Ignoring the simple fact that he already knows this is not true.
People in the system aged, say 150, clearly involves either a mistake or fraud. In simple terms, there are only 3 likely reasons for this:-
1. Ages have been recorded incorrectly-so (for example) someone born in 2000 is recorded as being born in 1900; or 2. People are not being taken off the system correctly when they die; or 3. There is systemic fraud, likely involving large amounts of Govt employees and bogus claimants
Number 1 doesn't save money. It costs money. Although it sounds like money well spent Number 2 costs money in the short term. Because you have to spend large amounts of money correcting the data. Although likely to save money in the longer term-although not much. Still sounds like money well spent to me Number 3 would save the US Treasury massive amounts of money.
So-which is it? Donald Trump knows the answer. He just doesn't want to admit it.
It is entirely Number 2. A fault has existed for decades in something called the COBOL code, resulting in dead people not being taken off the system. And it has happened for Decades. During the Biden administration, during the 1st Trump administration, and for many Presidents before that.
Number of these millions of people claiming benefits? None. Trump knows that fine well. Because if you can do a database search identifying all people born before (say) 1900, that self same database search will quickly show that these people have received $0
In any event, if there were cases in 3 above, who believes the DOGE man wouldn't have been shouting it from the rooftops?
That sounds suspiciously like a threat of War to me. Greenland is part of a sovereign country, Denmark. Neither Denmark, nor Greenland, wish Greenland to be part of the USA.
We know what his mate Putin would do-indeed, has done...

CNN's Daniel Dale fact-checked president Donald Trump's congressional address, but he said one lie in particular stuck out.
The president gloated over the changes he's implemented during his first 43 days in office in a historically long, nearly 100-minute address, and Dale walked through some of the false or misleading claims Trump made during his speech, but he told host Kate Bolduan the lie that "stuck out the most" to him was his claim that Elon Musk had found rampant fraud in the Social Security system.
"I found that this is wildly misleading, at best," Dale said. "So the president is at least strongly suggesting that millions of obviously dead people, you know, 200-year-olds, 300-year-olds, are receiving Social Security benefits. That is not the case, and that's because he didn't explain something critical. While there is a well-known issue with people's deaths not being marked in the Social Security database, that does not mean those people are still getting money, because Social Security has an automated system to automatically cut off people who are listed as being 115 years old or older. Now, I'll give you some specifics: In 2023, the inspector general who oversees the Social Security Administration looked into this, found that about 19 million people didn't have their deaths marked in the database even though they were 100 years old or over – so not good, an issue that has to be fixed. But the inspector general also found that only 44,000 of those about 19 million were actually getting money."
History will show Trump will become the worst President(leader) of the USA...it's just unfortunate the world has to suffer till he achieves this badge of dishonour
Nuff said, not going to waste any more keyboard stroked on him and his cult
'Going to be big': Car dealer warns major price increases coming thanks to Trump
President Donald Trump's tariffs are already causing consternation among car dealers, who are warning that blanket tariffs on all products from Mexico and Canada are going to massively jack up car prices for consumers.
In an interview with the Washington Post, Texas-based Volkswagen dealer John Luciano said that going to be absolutely shocked by the markups they are about to see.
“We have cars landing tonight, which means tomorrow’s cars are going to be more expensive,” he said. “I’m not sure the consumer has caught on yet to how much cars are going to go up, but it’s going to be big.”
As cars are being made, they receive parts that have passed through sections of both Mexico and Canada before landing at their final destinations at auto plants.
Slapping tariffs on each one of these parts every time they cross the border into America is projected to add thousands of dollars to a car's final price.
An analysis published by Bloomberg earlier this week estimated that Trump's tariffs "risk driving up US car prices by as much as $12,000, further squeezing consumers and wreaking havoc across the intricate web of automotive supply lines spanning the continent."
