"Deep Stacks are a rarity these days, which I think is sad, but they are increasingly out of fashion these days online, though still popular in Live poker. Anyway, Day 2 started with UKOPS 08, a Deep Stack which comfortably covered it's modest guarantee.
The winner was @Starboard who is reasonably new to Sky Poker, been here just 3 months & played less than 100 MTT's. Prior to last night had made two FT's, both in November, a Marksman Main & a £6,000 BH, but last night's £913 for 1st was far & away their biggest success on Sky Poker so far. Runner-up was the very gifted @Tinderella who, if we take Sharky numbers at face value, has an ABI of £73 & an average profit of £76. A glance at his stats suggests he does indeed have those ridiculous returns of a ROI in excess of 100%, as despite only 179 MTT's to his name, wins include 2 Sunday Majors (one during Boomlet was worth over £6,000 for 1st), an Avenger Main & a BWBH. Tremendous results from such a small sample size of games played.
Next up was the night's Main, which unfortunately missed guarantee by £1,100, though that's an improvement on the £2,800 miss in the same event last year. Our winner was @Hoff92 and that's his 2nd UKOPS win in 2 months as he won a Mini during the recent Autumn UKOPS. His greatest claim to fame though is surely winning Avenger Main & Avenger Mini on the same night back in 2019, so he collected the full £5,000 Final Table Jackpot. Friday's Main & Mini are arguably the hardest of the week, so that was some performance, & I doubt we'll ever see it again. He FT bubbled the UKOPS 08 Deep Stack last night too. The all-conquering @Natnugwas runner-up & might consider himself a shade unlucky not to win it, as Heads Up v @Hoff92@Natnug had K-K & turned top set, but it was not enough to beat the mighty 7-6 of @Hoff92 which rivered a straight. 3rd was @Granite89, followed by @IamAll_En & @THETANK. 6th was @duonross who is a bit of a Mini specialist, having won it twice inside a week earlier this year. Amongst the cashees were @91kid15 & @Shelley7 both of whom notched up wins on Day 1.
The UKOPS10 Mini came in at a handsome 22% above guarantee, & there was a right tussle for the win, victory eventually going to Danny @Itsover4u who overcame 2022 SPT Vegas winner @roddy28. Playing for just the third time since August, @BiddlyBurr put up a cracking effort in 3rd. Has been here 10 years & best effort was 3rd in the old Sky Sports BH which used to be televised on the TV Channel every Thursday as I recall.
Having been touched off for the win in the Mini, @roddy28 made no mistake in the subsequent UKOPS11 BH, beating the oh-so-youthful looking @Super_Oli into 2nd. @MAXALLY will surely have been pleased to finish a fine 3rd, with @Upswing, who won both 9 @ 9 & Reload on the same night a week ago in 4th, & Mr Channing @NChanning in 5th. In 6th was @tupps1 who was last spotted running 3rd in the Mini Major on Christmas Eve.
@Itsover4u was so close to a double on the night, having already won the Mini but he was touched off by serial-winner @seikus in UKOPS 12. In 3rd was @91kid15 who won the High Roller on Day 1. In 4th was @bar4004 who won the £1k BH on Tuesday.
The closer was UKOPS 13 Hyper BH in which @BigD45registered his first featured MTT victory, with @Gambelo 2nd. Back in August these two clashed on a Turbo FT with @Gambelo snatching the win & @BigD45 in 4th, so that would have been a very satisfying result last night for BigD.
So that's Xmas UKOPS Day 2 done & dusted, but we still have two more days remaining.
I'll be back same time, same place tomorrow, all being well."
Seems like most poker players preferred Wallace & Gromit to poker as there was overlay galore, totalling £1,507, with 7 events missing, worst of which was an eye-watering £400 miss in the £1,000 Turbo. Smaller misses arose in 7 @ 7, Rebuy BH, Mini, Mega, Reload & Quickdraw. Shudder. I'm guessing Sky James knew traffic would be super thin but decided to hold all the Guarantees, which was a great gesture.
At least the Main covered & it was @lwwl (that's probably the Welsh equivalent of "Jones" or "Smith") who took the Xmas Day victory. He only played 3 events, the Main (1st), Mini (bricked) & Mega (5th_) so a pretty successful evening I'd say. Tends to come & go, & has only played ~100 games here this year, & this was his biggest score of 2024. Lifetime, he's only had 2 bigger cashes, being a Sunday night £5k BH last year & a boomlet Sheriff in 2019.
The Mini went to the "lightly raced" (as they say in horse racing) @zoe86 who has been here 4 years & only played 110 MTT's, & in fact, in value terms, an identical amount of cash games. Prior to last night had only ever made 2 Featured MTT FT's, being 4th in an £800 BH & 5th in a MidEx, both in September of this year.
Somewhat surprisingly amongst the overlay carnage Sheriff actually exceeded target, quite odd really as that one misses more often than not. Big-hitting Scot @roddy28 got the win. Solid session for him, just 4 MTT's played, 1st in Sheriff, 10th in Turbo, 2nd in Quickdraw & 7th in MidEx.
@aaron1967 outlasted everyone in the £800 BH to secure his third win on the site, the previous two both being Reloads, the latest of which was in September.
@cowboyfishis a cash game player normally, (99.85% of action) & almost all the MTT's played were Freerolls including the 4 games prior to last night, but they pushed the boast out for Xmas Day playing both 7 @ 7 & 9 @ 9, winning the former, & seems to be nicely in profit in MTT's now.
@flopwelldoes well in the early evening stuff, three previous wins were in the £800 BH (twice) & 7 @ 7, & secured their 4th win last night by taking the Rebuy BH.
Bit of an odd day for @silille who only played 2 games yesterday, registering a 1st & a 2nd, but they were 14 hours apart, as they were 2nd in an 07.15 Timed then won Mega in the evening.
@trynkais new to Sky Poker, first played just a few days ago & has got off to a terrific start. From 12 games played in total, had a wonderful day yesterday, 2nd in a mid-afternoon £200 BH, won the 9 @ 9 and then 6th in a post-midnight £300 BH. Most definitely one to keep an eye on.
@Juggler18 seems to do better as the night goes on, took last night's Reload & two previous wins were in Turbo & MidEx.
SPT season-ticket holder @karlluke won Turbo. She's not on Sharky, but I'm assuming she won a satellite to gain entry, that's her normal MO. Well done Tina, & I hope you had a lovely Christmas Day.
@RUTSTER19 had a short but decent session with a deep run into 20th in the Main before winning Quickdraw & finishing 5th in MidEx. Won the Turbo a few days ago too. We don't see so much of him these days, but in the 2012 - 2015 era, he was a prolific winner including a UKOPS, a Sky Sports BH, an £8k BH, a £3k BH & two £2k BH's, & some of those were large-field affairs.
That's it for this morning. Don't forget, UKOPS starts this evening, but please look after your bankroll, it's a 4 day thing & it's easy to lose too much if you don't keep the discipline. Going busto is no good to you & no good to Sky Poker.
