Just 48 hours after binking UKOPS 24 Mega Stack, @bakersdozewas back in the winner's circle, this time for the Marksman Main, then later in the evening he won a £400 BH too. I guess that makes him the most profitable MTT-er on Sky Poker in 2024, though I daresay Mr @Natnug will have something to say on that matter soon enough. In 3rd was @BigDane who enjoyed a deep run into 20/290 in the £30,000 UKOPS Main on Saturday. 4th was @Jscorgie who won Sheriff on Christmas Eve. In 5th was @jawzindawz who ran 3rd in that one off NYE Mini BH.
@FeelGroggy returned to the MTT streets after missing UKOPS & a near 3 week absence and had a long but splendidly productive day. Began with 5th in a Noon Timed, then won a £200 BH. Two hours later he won a £300 BH, followed a few hours later by 1st place in a £500 BH. Then, sandwiched between 2nd in a £500 BH & 2nd in a Turbo, he won the Mini & then finished the session by making top three in two more Timed Tourneys. So, four wins, two 2nds & a bunch of FT's. Happy New Year Groggs. Runner-up in the Mini was @or8treacle with @shirley023rd.
@benc is a formidable opponent at any level & usually does well in 9 @ 9 but he could only manage 2nd last night as @kidgrimsby swept to the win. Well done Dave, & fingers crossed we might hook up in Vegas later this year.
It's always hard to tell with aliases, but in Quickdraw I think we may have had a female 1-2. @anjie1970 could only manage 2nd in it on Sunday, but went one better last night & bagged the (virtual) trophy. And how about runner-up @River_Foxwho won UKOPS 19 on Friday, what a run of form that is. Hopefully more of the same in 2024 for them both.
Another "fox" did well too, with @54foxwinning MidEx. As far as I can tell, that's their first featured MTT win since a Mega in June 2020.
Not a great night for MTT traffic by any means, with overlay amounting to £4,430, £3,400 of which came from the Main. Perversely it underlines what a great decision it was to move Day 4 to the Sunday, as I shudder to think what the overlay might have been if it had been tonight, a Monday. Not a great way to end 2024, but 2025 is going to be a wonderful year for Sky Poker, trust me.
Pride of place in the £30,000 Main goes to @Curt360x27. Had a good night all-round, as he also picked up some cash for 9th in the UKOPS HR, was 3rd in the regular 9 @ 9 & also 3rd in the UKOPS Hyper "closer". Been here 12 years & played some 12,000 MTT's & last night was his biggest win ever here, with his 2nd best being a boomlet Sunday Major & 3rd best the old televised PRIMO which some of you may remember. Runner-up was @newdaddy who revels in an astonishing 97 rating on Sharky. We don't see much/enough of him here, just a dozen MTT's this month but I daresay he has bigger fish to fry elsewhere & who can blame him? There was a terrific effort by @CptSFK to finish 3rd. In 6th was @Doooobs who swerved Day 1 presumably due to family/Christmas duties, but still did well overall, winning UKOPS 18, 6th in the £30,000 Main & 5th in the UKOPS 18 High Roller.
@alexohhas been here 5 years but barely played until the last few days (just 45 MTT's in total) but he certainly made his mark last night by winning the Mini. In 2nd place & earning his best ever cash here was @Dynesy and as it happens his 2nd best cash here was also in a UKOPS when he ran 2nd in the Autumn UKOPS PLO8 last month. It's been a good few weeks for 3rd placed @GEZZA79 who began December by winning the £800 BH & ran 2nd in 9 @ 9 on Christmas Day. It was good to see @waller02 on the Forum in the last few days & he was rewarded with a fabulous session last night, 4th in the UKOPS Mini, 6th in UKOPS 25, and 1st place in not one but TWO £1,000 "regular" BH's, the Rebuy at 19.10 & the 19.45 version. In 5th was @Natnug & we'll return to him a little later. @SaulGodman has certainly made his mark in his short time here, & celebrated his 100th MTT by finishing 6th. Aside from last night's UKOPS Mini those 100 MTT's included 1st & 2nd in regular 8pm Mains, 1st in Mega, 1st in a £1k BH & 3rd in a Summit. If he were a Racehorse Timeform would give him a P.
It was an All-Star FT in the High Roller with @roddy28 who in a moment of madness I described as "a surprisingly likeable Scot" in yesterday's write-up. There's not a Leaderboard this time but if there were he'd have maybe nearly won it, as he had 4 FT's, finishing 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 6th in UKOPS 21, 14, 16 & 20 respectively. SPT ledge@chrisdonkb was 2nd, sadly he's locked his Sharky so I'll have to spare you a rundown of his impressive stats. In 3rd was @DAVEMCDAID and now I can give you a really weird & quite astonishing fact about him - he's only played 94 MTT's here but his Top 12 best results are all in UKOPS events which is about as amazeballs as it gets. The best of those results was 1st in a UKOPS High Roller for some £8,000. @gez_bearwho won the previous night's UKOPS Main was 4th with @Doooobs - who had that Turbo double a day earlier - in 5th. Gareth @GSmith13 took 6th place which was worth a very handy £1,104.
@Ougiihas been here 4 years & barely played, just a little bit of cash & two dozen MTTs so winning last night's UKOPS 20 & taking home over £1,400 is the current highlight of his short Sky Poker journey. He was chased home by the likes of @lundie@A-r_K@AlexaAJ@DunkinFish & @roddy28.
UKOPS 24 Mega went to serial winner @grinddd. 2nd was @BigPhil100who has only been here 5 minutes & played just 30 MTT's was 3rd in the Day 2 UKOPS Mini & 2nd in this so he's off to a flyer. Playing just his 7th UKOPS of this Series @gregkdy82 was 5th with @BIGSHANNmaking another FT in 6th.
The £55 entry UKOPS 25 looked like a poshed up version of Sheriff to me & it was @Natnug who took the honours. Has had another mightily impressive year, despite having a bit of a thin spell the last few months. No matter how good you may be, when negative variance bares her teeth she's gonna get you. He was followed home by @seikus & @SwannLoL. 4th was @NChanning who I'm reasonably sure has cashed in Sheriff more times than anyone in 2024 so no surprise to see the old boy do well in this. As you can see, a super tough FT but you have to ask yourself what @waller02 (6th) was doing on it. It's that variance thing again I suppose, but the positive version this time & it just shows how powerful it can be as if he were a racehorse he'd be a Selling Plater with a Timeform squiggle.
@Remy12 - please let his Surname be Martin - played just two UKOPS last night, the opener & the closer, finishing a close-up 12/185 in the first & going all the way to 1st in the closer. Runner-up was @monkey07and that was his 2nd best score here all-time. The best was 1st in a 2020 Mini UKOPS & third best was 3rd in a 2020 UKOPS Mini. Looks like it was a very tough as 4th, 5th & 6th went to @GSmith13@ChipDiddy0 & @Sharki0
So there we are, that's another UKOPS done & dusted. Hope you've enjoyed the Reviews, and hopefully found them informative or even, Heaven forbid, mildly interesting.
Great football tonight, headlined by one of the Season's most attractive fixtures, Newcastle v Man U on TV, so combine that with post-UKOPS adrenalin hangover & you can expect a good bit of overlay. Help yourself.
