Sitting in and out between every hand

I have noticed about 5 regs over the course of the last month or so who seem to have some sort of software, or vpn, or god knows what, that causes them to sit out and sit back in in between every hand. They never actually miss a hand but the sit in/sit out flashes on and off consistently in between every hand.

I can only speculate what it means or how it happens. It could even be something happening on Sky's side. It just looks really weird and it's really really off putting to be playing someone and that keeps on happening.

Has anyone else noticed it? Anyone know what is going on?

If no-one has noticed it i can try and post a video but there wouldn't be much point because it works exactly as i say.

They are just continually ticking and unticking the "away" checkbox, some of them like to communicate in that way.

Yep, this was happening with one of the regular players at 100nl yesterday.

I’ve noticed it with several players also, playing 50nl+

It does look like some kind of software,

It's really unnerving and has been going on for some time. It could be totally innocent, but it's definitely happening.

If I were a reg and I kept being sat out and back in every single hand I would be sending an email to Sky or making a post on the forum. Whoever has this mechanism happening to them is obviously aware but does not care to think to even mention it to anyone.

    It's strange.

I've not noticed this myself, I wonder if its some kind of exploit.
Is there a disconnection involved for said player or are they sat back in without it affecting their time-bank?

I haven't played tournaments for a long time so i don't know if it's going on there.

The sit in and out is most definitely automated and not being clicked on and off by the players themselves. It's far too quick and consistent for a player to do it themselves.

I've seen a DYM reg do it when they want to kill the clock, the disconnect (or whatever they're doing) causes the away time-bank to reset and it moves a lot more slowly compared to ticking the away box where you can only kill a couple of seconds.

It's not somebody trying to exploit a clock or communicate with someone else. It is entirely predictable and consistent. At the end of every single hand said players will sit out and back in very quickly, without effecting game flow, and the next hand is just dealt as normal, albeit with a visible sit in/out visual on the players name. Every single hand.

When you're sat there playing with people who flash sit in/out every single hand you start to wonder what the **** is going on and it's unnerving.

Could be anything. Connection problems would be the innocent reason. This could also be a problem with a seating script, or player using a bot or VPN.

What do the players say when you ask them about it in chat? What stakes are you playing?

I would send the list of players to Sky James or Tikay.

It could absolutely be innocent, in fact i'm presuming it is. I highly doubt anyone would be stupid enough to use some sort of exploit with such a tell tale sign. The reason i bring it up is because the phenomenon is relatively widespread, so i just wondered if anyone knew what on earth it is because it's annoying.

I haven't actually seen anyone who this is occurring with since i made this post but i will try and ask when someone pops up.

I do this a lot when my table count is low enough. If you click the sit out now button and click I am back the next hand deals instantly and saves a lot of time between hands rather compared to if you leave it. If you try it you'll notice the difference. Pretty useful for increasing win rate by increasing the hands you get in, especially short handed with weak opposition. Good for recs too i think as they get to play more hands and have less dead time between hands, especially as spin up recs are there for a quick paced gamble. It is something people do manually but two clicks doesn't take so long. Only works for cash games where sitting out affects the action, tournaments/ SnG will go at it's own pace whether you are there or not.

Groggy, would you help me understand why sitting out and snap sitting back in deals the cards faster please?

I'm too old. I can barely click sit in and sit out in between one hand even if i try, let alone in between every hand.

Just stops the animation of the chips going to the player etc. As soon as you fold like groggy says and you sit in and out quick, it stops all that and just deals the next hand.
