"After a few very busy nights things were a little quieter last night, in fact we saw some overlay - albeit very small - in 9 @ 9 & Reload.
Biggest 1st prize of the night was in Summit, with @AlexaAJ taking the lion's share ahead of @NChanning & @destinycod. I was a little surprised to see this was the first Featured MTT win of 2024 for @AlexaAJ though he's had plenty of FT's. @NChanningwas on site most of the night, played 6 MTT's & in addition to 2nd here was 6th in an early evening £500 BH.@destinycod only played 4 MTT's last night & in addition to 3rd here he won Quickdraw. Summit specialist @Solackwas 5th.
In the Main, @nagrom did best, collecting £1,110, not a bad return on the £7.20 he spent to win his seat in a Direct Satellite. It was only his 2nd MTT session of 2024 too. He's won pretty much everything here down the years, the best of which was a 2014 Super roller for around £5,600, plus he's taken down several UKOPS, PRIMO, Summit, BWBH, £6k BH, & most of the regular Mains, including Avenger, Sharpshooter, Marksman & Gold Rush. So the only blanks on his bingo card seem to be the Major & Hitman. @Limp2lose was 2nd, & I'm not sure if he's been lucky or unlucky in 2024, but his shots have certainly been peppering the post & crossbar. No featured MTT wins yet, but 9 FT's - 2nd & 3rd in Main, 2nd & 4th in Quickdraw, 2nd, 3rd & 5th in Turbo & 2nd & 4th in Sheriff. 3rd was @Hod4k997 who later went on to win MidEx for the 2nd time in less than a week.
@LittleGJ had a very decent session, winning Mini & 2nd in Rebuy BH. It was the 8th time they've win Mini. 4th was @mumsie who won a Mini just before Christmas. He must be very pleased with his Sharky graph, which has improved dramatically in the last 12 months.
@sianimalis a new name to most of us, having only joined Sky Poker 6 weeks ago & played just 6 MTT's. Two wins from those six is promising though, a £200 BH on the night they signed up, & then last night's £1k BH.
These days @WillTheBum (should that include a question mark?) is a Reload season-ticket holder & one-tables it most nights, winning last night's renewal which is their 2nd Reload win since Christmas. Won a Mini Gold Rush last Autumn too.
Very pleased to see both @tomb1793 & @Angela124 win Sunday Major seats in the nightly Freeroll, be interesting to see how they do this Sunday. Mr Tomb certainly has form in winning lumpy amounts from Freerolls, & @Angela124is in great form at present. "
Despite an enticing PL match Live on TV MTT traffic was reasonable last night, with just two spots of overlay which came to a combined £75 so I don't imagine there will be an Emergency Board Meeting at Sky Towers to discuss traffic.
The £4,000 Marksman Main comfortably topped £5,000 & the FT included such luminaries as @lJAMESl(who won the Major 24 hours earlier & was attempting back-to-back Main Event wins), @Curt360x27 one time champion MTT-er @chicknMelt & @Fabraclass as well as the relatively young & upcoming @Swifteyyeu. However, none of them could get the better of @NIVVYDOH. "Who dat?" you may well ask, well he's been here since 2007 & 90% of his play has been at the cash tables. As to MTT's, in those 18 years he's played just 256 MTT's without any conspicuous success & has an ABI of £4.57 with almost all his play at the £3 & £5 entry levels. And until last night he'd NEVER played a Main Event here. That's right, 18 years here, never played a Main until last night, makes the FT against the established great & mighty of Sky Poker MTT's & wins it. As I say so often, how do these things happen? And if anyone can guess what that alias - NIVVYDOH - might stand for, I'm all ears. I suppose it might just be his real-life surname, "Mr Nivvydoh", though that's stretching credulity to @doubleme extremes. Anyway, whatever, congrats to NIVVYDOH bloke. Or Lady.
In the Mini we saw a far more predictable result as @SN1PERwas outgunned by big-hitting Scot @roddy28 and in what appeared to be a gun-laden FT @BazookaJoe blasted his way to 3rd.
"Amazing scenes NKOTB @Joadark joined Sky Poker at 6pm & played here for the first time & after a few false starts took 1st place in Reload."
Well Mr or Ms Dark was on site again & this time won 7 @ 7. Has now played 14 MTT's here since signing up on Sunday & won 2 of them. If he or she were a racehorse Timeform would most certainly give them a P.
@ego_death is not on Sharky so I don't know too much about him but he's suddenly making waves & already in 2025 he'd made 3 FT's - Predator Main, 9 @ 9 & Turbo - before making his debut in the winner's circle in last night's Mega. Quite an interesting alias, because as mentioned elsewhere I've been playing a lot of Live Poker recently & it's striking how much ego & testosterone there is in Live poker. I briefly toyed with the idea of starting a sort of Diary of my current Live Poker experiences but I decided against as I feared my somewhat left-field take on poker & poker people would fall on stony ground. Nobody likes their feathers ruffled, do they?
Sheriff came in at £1,400, with Saturday's Sharpshooter winner @balamar scoring again ahead of @Limp2Lose & the usual high-class FT, although somewhat unusually @NChanning who finals it for fun was down in 8th.
With Rebuys at just £3 a pop Reload is a bit of a chip-chucking affair at times & presumably takes a bit of winning with so many entries, rebuys & add-ons so all credit to @Burtace123who won it for the 2nd time in 3 weeks.
Talking of Reload winners @jeni82 was 1st & 2nd in it a week apart in late December but changed tack last night & won 9 @ 9, although has won it twice previously. In total, has won Reload no less than 13 times which is quite some record. One of those players who plays the game their own way, & as such attracts negative comment from the ankle-biters & aftertimers, but does just fine & has always been profitable. It's one of the great mysteries of poker people that they instinctively dislike players who have an unfashionable style. These days the Cool Kidz insist that opening raise sizes have to be 2.3 or whatever, & woe betide anyone who thinks differently. Poker players really are a peculiar bunch. Another reason why it is probably a bad idea to start a Poker Diary, as I happen to think that there are situations where different is good. If we all played the same...
Twice a £1k Rebuy BH winner @mofiman took the £800 BH last night having played just 8 MTT's in the last 2 or 3 weeks.
That's me done for today. Excuse the quality of today's write-up but I've got a touch of the 'flu. Man-Flu, obv, much much worse than Lady 'Flu.
I had it before Christmas and am still suffering a little now. When it first hit I was getting exhausted just doing paperwork! I've no idea if it was COVID, flu, man flu (as you stated a more serious strain of ordinary flu) or just a heavy cold and me being a wimp, but it wasn't very nice at all.
