"The letter from Ms Truss’s lawyers opens by saying: “We are writing in relation to statements you have made publicly in respect of our client which have caused and will likely continue to cause serious harm to her reputation."

    lol

    Reputation?
Sometimes Lawyers make the mistake of putting down in writing what they secretly want to say. My favourite exchange, in a vicious Defamation case, went something like this:-

Solicitor A: "My Client would like to know what your Client's reaction would be to a nominal sum payable to Charity, payment of my Costs in full, and a Public Apology"

Solicitor B: "My Client would like to know what your Client's reaction would be if he told him to fu ck off"

I believe Solicitor B got struck off...

Whereas one of my favourite sentences was this:-

"Your Client appears to be labouring under the misapprehension that he has a reputation capable of being lowered in the estimation of right-thinking people"
