Got to admire the sheer audacity of the Conservative Party. And how dumb the Express thinks its readers are.
As the article itself says, the Tories let 2 million in, perfectly legally with Visas. In a 3 year period. And, incidentally, this enormous spike was drastically reduced by Sunak (as well as Starmer)-for which he has been given zero credit.
The idea that 40% of legal migrants stay permanently is not new. Happened for many years. And various of those are working in the NHS, which in all likelihood would collapse tomorrow without them.
This is what the article seems to be saying. The Conservatives waved 2 million in 5 years ago. And Labour now has to take urgent action. While the Conservative Party are "furious", and somehow think this is Labour's fault? To give 1 simple example, why were various of these "students" not forced to waive any right to apply to remain as a condition of being allowed to come in the first place?
The Press has spent years demonising the desperate boat people. While the Middle Classes of India and Nigeria have bought their way in via student visas.
Lie your way into this country by paying a Criminal gang? Bad. Lie your way in by paying a similar fee to some University you've never heard of and then never leave? Fine

Albanian drug dealer sent to jail had already been deported twice
People who apply for asylum mostly do so because they are desperate. Many of them fear persecution or death if they are returned to their own country. As a result, they are likely to make as strong a case as possible to remain.
Has that "chicken nuggets" story become the new "bendy bananas"?
What, exactly, makes this person a Polish drug dealer? He was born in Poland. But has lived in this country since he was 4 years old. He is now British.
Let's turn this round. Suppose a convicted drug dealer was born in the UK. However, since the age of 4 he has lived in Poland. He only speaks Polish. All his family live in Poland. And all his crimes were carried out in Poland.
Hands up who thinks Poland should be entitled to refer to him as the "British Drug dealer" and ship him off to the UK?
