"A reasonable night on balance.

The Main made £5,490 & it was the ratman himself who did best, aka @NOSTRI. He seems to have returned after the New Year rejuvenated, & this was his 4th Featured MTT win this year (2 x £1k Rebuy BH, 1 x £500 BH, & now a Main). It's his 6th Main event win - 4 x Marksman & 2 x Hitman. Really pleased for him, though I'm not sure why. Beat a good quality FT too, featuring some excellent players in @AlexaAJ @podraic @BWFCx & @1betufold.

@ToddB has made several Mini FT's, including two already this year on 4th & 8th January, and he went the whole way last night to secure the win, his best ever here I believe. 2nd was @shad8604 who then went on to win a late night £300 Turbo BH. He did well in FTT last week too I seem to recall.

@Gigitygoon had his best win of the year so far when taking 9 @ 9, and may yet beat that over the weekend as he also won himself a Sunday Major seat in the Freeroll.

@bakersdoze started the year splendidly, winning both the Main & a £400 BH on New Years Day, but went off the boil a bit subsequently. He bounced back last night though in taking the new £500 BH, so maybe his luck has changed for the better.

After winning MidEx a few months ago, @nugget1968 was back in the winner's circle last night clutching the 7 @ 7 Trophy. 2nd was @spearsy136 who occupied the same spot in Reload. He's making a lot of FT's but not winning many at the moment, but that's just variance really, I'm sure the wins will resume soon.

It was good to see so many less familiar faces last night, & @IronBlue was another, he won the Rebuy BH. He played New Year's Eve & then disappeared until Wednesday, so he soon got back on his winning bike.

@ibrown74 is another we do not see much of in these threads, he took Mega.

Since running 6th in the New Year's Day Main @fara has barely been seen but won last night's Quickdraw from a very strong FT indeed.

@PokerChode who took down MidEx. I have an overly curious mind - you can take that several ways - but I was interested in that alias, "PokerChode", so I googled "chode". And now I rather wish I had not. Hmm.

Morning.

MTT traffic was so-so, neither great or terrible, mostly just covering guarantees, with 3 small misses coming to a combined £170. With terrific televised football including of course the North London Derby, that's a bit of a result really. Probably a good night for the Bookies too, as Spurs were available at a massive-looking 7/1 in places which will have attracted lots of recreational money. In reality of course they were no-hopers, but 7/1 in a 2 horse race is always worth consideration I suppose. In truth, Team Arteta barely broke sweat. After the game Arteta said "we wuz great, innit" & Ange said "it's who we are". And for once, Ange was right...

An interesting result in the Main which went to newbie but not newbie @eupbygum. Been here 5 years but barely played until the last week or so, & now has just 21 MTT's against their name. Ran deep in Sunday's £5k BH (11/155) before registering their maiden win last night. I spent some time thinking about that alias - eupbygum - wondering what the word might mean, trying to work out if it had Latin or Greek roots, before belatedly realising it's "Yorkshire", E Up By Gum... 5th place went to @Chalky666 to whom we shall return later. However, I can say it was his 3rd Main Event FT of 2025, & I know that thanks to the excellent Main-Mini Leaderboard updated daily by Brian aka @slipwater, here...

In the Mini it was returnee @kalooki8 who took the top spot on his first MTT for almost a month & just his 8th since the start of October. In 6th was another returnee @Viveecan playing an MTT for the first time since 7th December.

Sheriff went to @Natnug, & worth noting that with just 15 entries & 4 rebuys @natnug took 11 Head Prizes. Also worth noting that runner-up @NChanning had exactly zero bounties, & if that were not surprising enough, anyone care to guess how many hands he played?

The evening got off to a good start with the rejuvenated @Chalky666 grabbing 1st place in the £800 BH, then much later he won a post-Midnight £150 Timed. In between those two wins he won a seat to the Main in a £7.20 satellite & ended up 5th for just shy of £200. It's barely three weeks since he won back-to-back UKOPS titles, so he's definitely one to keep an eye on. The chatbox of this game was much enlivened by an extraordinary conversation between @Humphrey43 who I would describe as a "normal guy" & @smellbl1nd who is a sort of poker conspiracy theorist who not only believes Sky Poker is rigged, but that it's rigged in favour of specific players (he named several of them). Quite how he thinks Sky Poker's "somewhat limited" software manages that - & more importantly, why - remains a complete mystery to normies like me. And the most amazeballs thing? He's been here 13 years & played 13,000 games on Sky Poker... Life is full of fascinating mysteries, isn't it?

There was a winning return for another returnee too when the German-sounding @Von26 took the 7 @ 7 in his first MTT in 7 weeks & only 8th in 6 months. 3rd was the softly-spoken & mild-mannered @ScottyKaye with @lundie 4th.

In the Rebuy BH, @oldholborn was the champ. It's his maiden success here though he only joined us on Christmas Day. That alias sparked some memories from back in the day when I was a "hand-roller".....






Later in the evening @Swog completed a lovely Turbo-Quickdraw win double. We are not graced by his presence much these days as he's moved up in the world & tends to casts his net in deeper waters. Such is life, he's a decent bloke & as far as I'm concerned the very best of luck to him.

@FreddyVoo has been here just over 2 years without troubling the judges, but after a deep run in last night's Main (8/111) he roared to victory in MidEx.

That's us about done for today.

Tonight's MTT traffic? There's two televised PL matches, but no big teams, just mid & lower table also-rans, so we might have a reasonable night.

Spent the morning reviewing my session. Pretty pleased with how I played in the Sheriff. I was the 15th player to enter the tournament with one minute to go of late-reg. That meant there were three prizes and when I entered I became the 4th player remaining. I was due to come in between the blinds so was sat out for my first hand and I got to watch two people clashing leaving me to cash the tournament despite not having been dealt a hand yet. I folded the next three hands and in the third one Nuggy helped me out by getting us to heads-up. I had now been dealt-in to three hands and played zero. In the first hand of heads-up we both went all-in, my KJ hit a jack high flop but his 1010 rivered a set and I was 2nd.

After my review I think I'm happy with my play.
