Cornish couple avoid sky high train fares by flying via Malaga to Crewe

A couple flew more than 1,300 miles to Malaga and back to the UK to pick up a new car – as it was cheaper than getting a train.

Mother-of-four Kristina Coulson and her husband, Dan, live in Cornwall and needed to collect a new car near Crewe after Mrs Coulson was hit by a drunk driver.

She “could not believe how expensive” getting a train would cost – up to £200 per person just for the one-way journey.

After some research the support worker found it was cheaper to fly from Newquay to Malaga and back to Manchester – with flights costing £54.

I had to plan a trip to Cornwall earlier this year so rather than driving I thought I'd try other ways. Train was roughly £300, The so called £1 Megabus etc companies wanted near on £200, I then had a thought of flying as it's only a short amount of miles and a mate had just flown to Albania for £27:50p return. The price was well over £500 how the **** does that work out ?

They just take us all for mugs in this Country. Everything gets overpriced.

    Quite simple.
    They both had to go.
He would not have been happy unless he was able to kick the tyres prior to completing the purchase.
She would have looked upon her half of the fares as a bargain, the unacceptable alternative for her, would have been to allow him to drive her car from Crewe to Cornwall.
