Forum Announcement

As part of some exciting changes (see here) coming to Sky Poker, we have unfortunately made the difficult decision to close this forum when we move to iPoker at the end of May.

We know it’s popular and that’s why we’re looking into other ways our players can socialise and provide feedback on the new site.

Ahead of the closure, please let us know what you'd like to see from a social platform whether it be another forum or something completely different.

Shame that the forum is being closed. Obviously it's nowhere near as busy as it once was, but still many regulars who contribute and some fantastic forum comps.

Big thanks @Tikay10 for his hard work running the forum, almost single-handedly in recent years. Always enjoy reading the daily results updates.

Would be great if we can find a way to keep the community going elsewhere once the forum closes.

Shame we are going to lose the Sky Poker Forum. All good things come to an end I suppose. Not sure how you will continue the community comps/results coverage without it TBH. The writing was on the wall when you culled the popular FTT community comp.

We will all have to get back to buying daily papers to catch up on the news now.....instead of Haysie's daily postings...lol.

With the recent announcement of SPT 2025 venues, surely some sort of communicating media/social platform will still be needed?

I don't play a lot of poker for my own reasons but I've enjoyed being part of the forum, I may not agree with a lot of the posts but hey that's what makes a good forum. As much as it pains me to say I will actually miss the main protagonists (we all know them) and the antagonists (we know them as well). It's been a pleasure debating a whole variety of subjects over the years and I will genuinely miss this forum. As a parting shot I'd like to express my last contribution to the forum, in the words of Jack Wilshire Spurs Are **** :D

An official Sky Poker Discord channel would be good. Many other sites now have these (Stars, 888, Party, Unibet, to name a few) and they're a good way to maintain a dialogue between site representatives and the players.

Lots of them also run community based promotions/freerolls to help boost engagement and get more bums on seats (in much the same way as already happen through this forum).

Hope nobody was keeping a diary on here as it's about to get thrown in the bin.

This is a real shame. Many years ago the Sky Poker forum was a huge part of my day. Every day. I will always have fond memories of those times and the players I met along the way (you know who you are!).

I really hope something can be done to satiate the few regulars that are left treading these boards.

Forums were all the rage back in the mid 2000's, but this is still the only forum that I read/post on. Sad to see the forum go but provided I can get the sky news that @Tikay10 provides then i'll be happy

@HAYSIE any chance I can sign up to your newsletters for the news?

LOL this did make me chuckle and brought back great memories. Jack's sister Rosie was my head administrator for four years, we were like the A team of the company and got sent to many different contracts to sort things out. One day Rosie is like Jack is coming to meet us on wednesday for lunch so i am okay with that even though he is now a superstar, met him many times ( the whole family are life long west ham :) COYI )so Jacks rolls up in an brand new two door white Merc and Rosie's like OMG it's beautiful and Jacks says, glad you like it, it's yours and gives her the keys.

Ahhh only just seen this news. What a shame after all these years.

Think I started in 2009 so it's been quite a while and a lot of fun. I'm not so active these days, just keep half an eye on it now and then and see if anything interests me.
Actually I use it mostly for exchanging stuff with @Tikay10 over DM
I will miss it though like I still miss the TV show. In fact something reminded me of that this morning and got me remembering/chuckling to myself.

Moving to another platform would be nice. I am very experienced with Discord although it is quite a different experience - more of a live chat environment (loads of short posts rather than detailed forum posts), which I'm still not a huge fan of but put up with it.

Well thank you Tikay who has given so much and to everyone else here. Even the old Sky_Mods, whoever they were

I will follow developments with interest and hope this continues in some form.

    Cheers!

I'm relatively new here, but I'm sad for this development.

well the discord already made it clear im not welcome and never will be welcome there. so dont care a lot for the discord idea. I guess I will move over to the poker forum where I am liked and respected. Yes believe it or not you wont believe it but there is a poker forum community where I am liked and respected. I tended to be silly here and stick around here because since everyone thinks negatively of me here its no big deal if I did mess up and make myself look bad and to semi troll. I was worried about losing that rep on the other forum because Im not normally liked or respected but I guess I go over and live at those poker forums soon. and no I wont tell anyone what forums those are.
