"A little quieter last night than of late, perhaps not helped by good football on TV. The Premier League are having one of their "midweek rounds" which they do from time to time, basically to earn increased income from the TV companies. Last night's televised offering included Liverpool, Spurs & Chelsea, tonight sees the likes of Man U & West Ham in televised action. Anyway, Main & Mini both saw small misses, Sheriff & 9 @ 9 both came in bang on the number, with Quickdraw the star turn, 50% above guarantee.
The Main had an odd look about it, with 3 experienced & successful players in 4th, 5th & 6th, with the podium occupied by less familiar names. Winner was @ezp who was playing their first MTT for nearly 3 months & only 8th since last April, and up until last night they were all £11 entry or less. No previous thread mentions. Runner-up @mickbell was equally surprising, it was their first ever game of any description on Sky Poker, one-tabled it too. Some start that. 3rd was @fisherking who as far as I'm aware rarely played stakes above £10. Having said all that, always good to see new faces in the thread.
The Mini went to @coolhanal who has the unusual distinction of having finished in every FT position in the Mini, 1st through 6th. Was 3rd in the Mini on 11th January but has barely been seen since.
For the 2nd straight night, @NOSTRI scored a win, Mega this time. As far as quantity of wins are concerned, January 2024 has been his best month here ever. It might have just been a heater, but I fancy he's upped his game.
@MikeyW94 is another with back-to-back wins, MidEx & then last night's Sheriff. (In fact, both were the same day).
Turbo & Quickdraw were both very hot finals, & it's perhaps worth looking at a few players who did particularly well last night;
Imagine being that good at poker. Fair play to them all, they've worked on their game & are all decent sorts.
SPT runner-up @Vertigo has had a quiet month since winning 9 @ 9 early doors but popped up with 1st place in last night's Rebuy BH.
@shad8604 has been making FT's for fun, he won Mega a week or so ago, & last night he won 9 @ 9.
@andyman999 played just two MTT's last night & FT'd both, 6th in the Rebuy BH & 1st in Reload.
Technically, the first win of February went to @GABIAGREEN who took MidEx to start the month perfectly.
Finally, some interesting cashees in the Rewards Freeroll, with @kidgirlgy who celebrated a "big" birthday this week in 2nd, @Jac35 in 7th for his biggest cash in 9 years, & @River_Foxsneaking into the money in 19th.
A relatively quiet night despite the lack of interesting domestic football on TV, hard to imagine any neutrals having the slightest of interest in Portsmouth v Millwall. On your behalf I did endure the whole 90 minutes & I can report that it was, at best, turgid. Despite a quietish night on the Site, only 9 @ 9 missed guarantee, & that by just £66. Not too bad then.
Feedback continues on the soon-to-be defunct Forum as to the transition to I-Poker in late May & the mood & feel seems reasonably positive overall. Unfortunately, as it seems with all Forum threads it's now been infested with AI-generated Teddy Bear images. There's much I'll miss about our Forum, but I certainly won't miss those. I suppose I stand accused of being a tad curmudgeonly - guilty as charged - but there's a time & place & all that. Meh.
Gold Rush Main crept over the guarantee line by about one entry but it counts as a win. Winner was @ego_death & if that name rings a bell maybe it's because he won the Major 48 hours earlier & was 2nd in Friday's BWBH, after which I suggested he was something of a dark horse. Been here over 10 years but barely played until recently but he's now been exposed for what he is, a very competent player indeed. Had a win double last night in fact as also won 9 @ 9, & was 3rd in Turbo. Runner-up was @Swifteyyeu who is no slouch himself & is coming along quite nicely. It's his biggest cash so far this year as he seems to gave hit a bit of a dry spell recently. He's another player who, if I were his coach, I'd say play fewer MTT's & you'll do better. Luckily for him, I'm not his coach...
The bulk of play by @Anna1234 seems to be in DYM's but when they turn their hand to MTT's they seem decent & after winning Friday's Mega, repeated the trick in last night's Mini. Please note I've used the "they" pronoun here as with Online Poker one never knows these days & I have no wish to offend or embarrass. Have to be so careful these days, one mistake & you may well end up getting cancelled, & that would never do, now would it? Was a very decent FT by Mini standards with @WAREZ@Fabraclass & @loololollo following @Anna1234 home. So to speak.
Summit was - as expected - a very high-class bunch of Finalists full of the Usual Suspects but it was @NesQuiKKK playing just their 8th MTT since last July who emerged at the head of the pack. Only previous result of note I can trace is winning a Mega back in 2021. Interesting how folks just seem to come & go, maybe they are like wandering minstrels & just like to mix it up a bit.
Another winner who has not played here much this year - just 4 times - was the Rebuy BH winner @Joestheboy. Only prior thread mention was also in a Rebuy BH, 6th that time, in September of last year.
Always lovely to see new faces do well, so a big welcome to @Hotshot23 who only joined us a fortnight ago & had their first win of note last night when taking down Mega, and again this was a strong FT.
@gingerbb5 is a real standing dish in Reload & won it last night for the third time in the last few months, has made the FT numerous times too.
Om January 10th @GREGSTER was 4th in the Mini & 2nd in Quickdraw since when he's been fairly quite but he won last night's Quickdraw, his first big result this year, & biggest cash since winning a Mini on December 6th.
