Eli Sharabi was an Isreali who was held hostage by Hamas until released yesterday, looking gaunt & emaciated.
He said “I feel very, very happy today to return to my family and friends, to my wife and my daughters.”
It appears that throughout his 16 month ordeal he had been unaware that.... his wife & 2 daughters had all been murdered by Hamas on the same day he was taken hostage.
So the next time you whinge about a bad beat at the poker table, have a think about Mr Sharabi.

This day last year
"Turning to last night now, a near perfect evening for numbers, with every featured MTT performing well &, I imagine, equal to or above expectations. The SPT sats have been performing great too, last night made 4 seats, I can't recall when that last happened.
In the Major, @Dingle1234 arched a few eyebrows by taking the win. Was 4th in Saturday's Main, & won a Sheriff recently, but has never shown the sort of form needed to win a Major. Runner-up was @PowerPok3r who is very selective & played just 13 MTT's here in the last 3 months, all of them £100ers. Does OK though, from those 13 results included 2nd, 3rd & 4th in the Major, those three results combined being worth close to £4,500. In 7th place was last week's winner, "Pretty Boy" @lJAMESl. His last three MTT's have been two Sunday Majors (1st & 7th) & 5th in a Stack Builder Freeroll, those three scores adding up to ~£4,600.
Another infrequent MTT-er is @salv06 who took the Mini, playing just their 8th MTT in almost 3 months. FT bubble boy was @kawamattyz (almost certainly an unlucky exit) who I notice ran 6th in the nightly PLO8.
The £6k BH went the way of @HAYSIE so that goes a long way towards the new TV & stand he's been banging on about for what seems like an eternity. He gets plenty of stick about his poker because of his age, but he seems to do just fine, with dozens of 4 figure cashes, & even one 5 figure cash, which is a Sky Poker rarity. (1st in a £500 UKOPS back in 2013, that must have been one of the earliest UKOPS). Among those who ran deep in that big UKOPS were @CoxyLboro & @offshoot, there's a few memories there.
If ever there was a typical Sheriff FT it was last night, what a line-up it was, finishing order was @Swog @Thoich @GSmith13 @Froozle @cabbaz @Natnug. Fancy making the FT & then realising you've got that lot lined up against you.
Similar story in Mega where the FT line-up included @PICKLE33 @GSmith13 @Arrogant @podraic & @235467. By any standards, that's a tough £20-er.
@River_Fox continued their improvement by winning Quickdraw, the seventh time they've made that FT in 2024, has also won a 9 @ 9 & run 2nd in a Mega in recent weeks.
Dazzy @thedazzman took 7 @ 7, easily his best score this year. If we go back a year or two he has some cracking results on his CV, including 1st in a Summit & 3rd in a £15,000 UKOPS affair.
In the £1k Rebuy BH @Gigitygoon took 1st place, his 3rd best score all-time. Best result was just 3 Sundays ago when he won the Major off a Freeroll. @Thoich was 4th with @aynaricol 5th.
@davtherav took down the 9 @ 9 for the second time in a fortnight.
We saw a very rare achievement, back-to-back Reload wins, well done to @TamL. Dread to think how many flips you need to win that one, never mind twice on the spin.
@Voltage who won a Vegas package last year, resisted the pressure and charged to victory in MidEx.
4 more seats for SPT Brighton were shipped, so look forward to seeing @outflopu @kdaddy reigning Brighton champ (iirc) @chrisdonkb & @gibbzy there.
That's it for today, you'll be relieved to hear."
Morning.
With the exception of a £70 miss in Turbo, there were decent MTT traffic levels right across the board last night. The Main & Mini both did particularly well, the £5k Main coming in just shy of £7,000, & the £1,500 Mini at close to £2,000.
It was a Scottish-dominated Sharpshooter Main with @roddy28 getting the nod ahead of @PKRPar. It was the best score @roddy28 has achieved since winning a UKOPS High Roller in late December. He has 4 cashes here in excess of £4,000, 3 of which were UKOPs, the other being a Sunday Major. If Sharkscope is to be believed, he is just shy of £100,000 of profit on Sky Poker now, which has come from just over 5,000 games. Impressive. Good result for the considerably less-talented @PKRPar too and to be fair, he's started 2025 well, with 3 Sheriff FT's (1st, 3rd & 3rd), a 4th in Quickdraw, a 5th in Turbo plus 2nd in last night's Main. I do love to see players of modest ability who somehow over-achieve, & strangely enough that also applies to 4th placed @Shrimpy28 who remains a big fan of League Two side Peterborough who lost 5-1 to local arch-rivals Lincoln City a fortnight ago.
@JackRCrap won last night's Mini, his MTT highlight (so far) was finishing 3rd in a Sunday Major last October. I wonder if his alias is a Spoonerism based on the 1950's Children's TV Show on BBC, "CrackerJack"? The winners received a Crackerjack Pen & Pencil set - oooohhh - & the show's main selling point was that every time the Host (Eamonn Andrews or Leslie Crowther in the early days) said "CrackerJack" the audience, mostly of junior school age, all screamed. One can but hope that children's TV has moved on a bit, assuming it still even exists...
In a lovely throwback to the days he dominated here, @MattBates returned after a 5 day absence & played a long but successful session. When the dust settled, he'd won THREE MTT's - Sheriff, Quickdraw & a £500 BH, plus finished 3rd & 5th in £300 BH's. Good to see him back & doing well.
@bert21 tends to just play 1 MTT per night - occassionally he goes mad & plays 2 - but he makes them count & his profit graph is very pleasing on the eye. On Friday he was the FT bubbler in Avenger Mini (worth around £100 as it happens) & last night he won the £800 BH. Maybe he likes Avenger as he won the Mini version in 2018, his best score to date.
@tatter12 was 5th in Friday's 7 @ 7 & then won it last night. Seems to specialise in 7 @ 7 & 9 @ 9, has won both & made the FT's of both many times.
Single-tabler @corlex has taken 6 weeks to play his last 8 MTT's, all of which were the 19.10 Rebuy BH but he does seem to do really well in them, finishing 6th, 2nd & now 1st in his last 8 starts.
Three nice results yesterday for Coach @Collabo who won Mega and a £300 BH & also ran 2nd in a late afternoon £300 BH.
Two wins in the last week for @Bensons22, first a Reload last Sunday, then last night's 9 @ 9. Had a sensational month in November 2023 when he won a Predator Main, 2nd in BWBH, 3rd & 6th in UKOPS, & 5th in a Sunday Major. Then in November 2024 he made 4 FT's in the Autumn UKOPS.
@mainspring ran deep in the Main (12th) then won Reload. All time best results were wins in a Sunday Major, a Sharpshooter Main & a UKOPS.
MidEx went to @gez_bear who also ran 3rd in Sheriff. It's only just over a week since he was 6th & 3rd in Avenger Main & Mini respectively, which gave him £150 of FTJ cash.
@skicowboys won the 19.18 PLO8 for the 5th time in the last few months. Been winning MTT's here since as far back as 2008. He'll no doubt be off to Las Vegas 3 or 4 times this year to play PLO8 at South Point & The Orleans. Am I jealous? You bet I am.
That's me done for today. It's Super Bowl tonight, & whilst it does not start until 11.30, it's become a growing trend to have "Super Bowl Parties" which start earlier in the evening, so site traffic is likely to be impacted to a degree.
