This day last year

"Very short of time today, had a lot of PM's to deal with, plus at 12.30 Brentford play Liverpool, so just a quick run through.

Traffic was sort of so-so, with a few very small bits of overlay here & there, nothing of note though.

@PortVale93 won the Main. Feel free to insert your own "Port Vale won something" jokes. Impressive though, logged on at 6pm, won their seat in a £4.80 satellite, then 1 tabled the Main all the way & going home with the top side of £1,500 in their Lucy. Very nice.

Interesting result in the Mini which went to @PMartin who, if Sharky is accurate & he's not reset his stats, was playing his first & only MTT here. At present I can't check when he joined us, but I fancy he's a NKOTB.

On Monday I wrote this....


"In the Major, @Dingle1234 arched a few eyebrows by taking the win. Was 4th in Saturday's Main, & won a Sheriff recently, but has never shown the sort of form needed to win a Major."

Well we might just have a live one here, as he took last night's BWBH from the usual strong field. A Major & a BWBH in the same week is pretty cool. One for the metaphorical notebook.

As so often is the case, Turbo attracted - arguably - the evening's toughest FT, or not far off it, with @NChanning getting home ahead of the Sky Poker All-Stars in the shape of @Limp2Lose @cabbaz @Natnug @Tastysnack & @pooochy who have all filled their Sky Poker MTT bingo cards. Neil still has game it seems, despite his rapidly advancing years.

And as I just mentioned @NChanning maybe it's a good moment to mention some sad news - that Saturday night £400 guarantee PLO has gone to meet it's maker in poker heaven, or maybe just been buried in an unmarked grave, & so is not in the lobby any more. Last week's swansong got just 19 entries, needing 40. Tweak the buy-in, night & structure all you like, that baby is never going to be sustainable. Sad but true. As Neil might say, marv.

Finally, in the SPT sat, I've been banging on daily that there have been no dupes yet. Well like buses, two came along last night, both the seats went to players who already have one in the bag - @madprof & @K4. Congrats to them both.

The other piece of news yesterday, in case you missed it, was that the Las Vegas SPT was announced. Promos will start in April, though I fancy the "staff bounties" at SPT Brighton might be online satellite seats to it. oioi"

Morning.

Not much football on TV of interest to UK viewers but the increasingly popular Premier League Darts certainly impacts online poker traffic. Traffic was so-so, with 3 events (Mega, Sheriff & Turbo) missing by a combined £480.

In the Main @FlynTimber took the win for his best score here in 2025, though he did win over £3,000 when taking a Sunday Major in December. These days mostly just plays Main & Mini, plus the £110ers, and I believe he plays a fair bit on other sites. Has a sensational record here in biggies, with a CV that includes wins in no less than SIX Summits, three BWBH's, two Sunday Majors, two Avenger Mains, a UKOPS & any number of regular Mains. Sharky rate him at 95 which sounds about right. Great effort by @ribeiro66 to finish 2nd, especially as he was freerolling, having won his seat in a £1.80 All-In sat. The third podium step was occupied by @Jessieak who is much older than you might think. Not "tikay old", you understand, but still qualified to play Super Seniors events I'd say. @mumbledore was 5th, this player has shown much improved form this year, and it was their second 2025 Hitman Main FT, in addition has notched up wins this year in 7 @ 7, 9 @ 9 & the £800 BH.

Main event winner @FlynTimber may well have won the Mini too but for running his A-K into Q-Q on the very first hand, & so denying himself a really good FTJ sweat. Even so, 1st in the Main & 6th in the Mini - the only 2 MTT's he played here last night - was good enough for a £250 FTJ cash bonus. The win went to @W1SHB0NE who seems to have had his best results in 2017/18 & 19, since when he seems to have encountered some severe head winds. Hopefully last night's win will signal that he's turned the corner. Variance is such a brutal thing when it takes against you. I've had the very good fortune to run really well in Live poker for 3 months now & I'm loving life, but as we all know, it can & often does turn in an instant & suddenly we can't buy a result. That's when we see a players true mettle, when the cards go cold can they handle them swongs?

@loololollo does not need run-good he's a cut above most of us & he enjoyed yet another profitable session, with two 1st places (Rebuy BH & 9 @ 9), a 2nd (9 @ 9) & a 6th (Quickdraw). A frustrating evening for @loosecamel who came up just short three times - 3rd in a £500 BH, 2nd in the Rebuy BH & 2nd in Turbo. It was another good sesh for @Bensons22 who was 2nd in 7 @ 7 & 5th in the Rebuy BH. Regular readers will know he's done exceptionally well this month & has already clocked up wins in 7 @ 7, 9 @ 9, Reload & a Mini.

If you don't believe that Sheriff is for grown-ups only, look at last night's 1-2-3 - @wineli (who we will see in Brighton in a few weeks), @NChanning & @roddy28 who I expect to see at SPT Glasgow also made the Turbo FT, finishing 3rd.

@dennis03 single-tables the £800 BH most nights & has had a series of strong finishes in field sizes that approach 200, finishing 15th, 19th & 25th in his previous 7 attempts. The inevitable win came last night, & it was the 2nd time he'd won it in a matter of months.

Much the same story for @bri11 who captured the 7 @ 7 which seems to be his favoured MTT, and most nights, after that he logs off presumably so he can watch Brookside, Crossroads & HollyOaks.

@Kie1997 has only been here ~4 months & just 88 MTT's but is showing promise, and having won a 7 @ 7 & been 2nd in a Mega went one spot better in last night's Mega & then went on to run 2nd in Midex. As noted earlier, @Bensons22 was 2nd. @MARK277 was 3rd, he's started 2025 well too having already notched up wins in the £800 BH, Mini & 9 @ 9, two of them in the last fortnight.

9 @ 9 went to @Potsymoore who won a 7 @ 7 this time last year and then ran 2nd to @Gsmith13 in an Autumn Mini Major.

@eon1961 had a very long day indeed for a man of his age, starting at 0930 & still on site for Midex & way beyond by which time he'd played over two dozen events. It was looking like a bad day until 1st place in Quickdraw rescued his day.
