Phil Hellmuth claims he will NOT be playing the Main Event this year as the 12 hour days are "too long". Ahh, bless. He's never lived, poor chap, has he? Imagine thinking a 12 hour day playing poker is a hardship....

On a more serious note, there is some truth to what he says.
Simply because you reach an age where you can no longer play your A game for 12 hours on consecutive days.
I used to prefer 1B and 2A (now 2ABC) so that the first time I would have to play on consecutive days would be Day 4.
And I think I remain the only player to have received a 1-round penalty for snoring at the table...
It IS an endurance test, but that's part of the deal, & it's the same for everyone. It's a bit like saying a 26 mile Marathon is an endurance test. Of course it is.
The WSOP Main is the greatest Poker MTT on earth, no question. But once we reach a certain age, it becomes too much for some of us. Which is why there is now a rich variety of Seniors events much more suited to our age & stamina.
As you well know Phil, life is not fair, & never has been. We get old, we get limitations. Unlike Hellmuth making a song & dance about it, most of us just shrug our shoulders & accept that it's just how life is.
Surprisingly, I've received One Orbit penalties TWICE in WSOP Events, which is odd because I'm not exactly confrontational, & I'm always 100% chilled at the poker tables.
I was once asked about pacing yourself as an older player while doing something for a different site at a previous Main.
My suggestion was this.
You need to schedule rest time for maximum advantage. So-at the start of the day, and whenever you change tables, spend the 1st hour relaxing. Play super tight, only playing premiums.
As well as the rest, gives you the chance to size up the table. And gives the rest of the table the firm impression that you are an old g1t who only plays premium hands
Hellmuth has recently signed a massive sponsorship deal with BetRivers by the way. They are a growing online sportsbook who recently merged Phil Galfond's thing into them and started doing poker.

What price he changes his mind & plays it?

@Essexphil
Yes, I did notice he was not wearing his usual Sponsor's cap.

Ahh, that explains the "BetRivers" cap, he used to wear an Aria one.
Even more likely he'll play the Main then imo.
