Health authorities in the Northern Territory have asked businesses to remove hand sanitiser from public areas, over concerns people are drinking the germ-killing gel.
NT chief health officer Christine Connors sent a letter to retailers this month where she warned that 'unfortunately a small number of individuals can misuse hand sanitiser'.
'I now encourage you to remove supplies of hand sanitiser from publicly accessible areas,' Ms Connors said.
She added that it was 'not necessary' for businesses to supply publicly available hand sanitiser, now that Covid directives had ended.
Ms Connors also said that retailers who continued to provide hand sanitiser should ensure it was 'properly secured'.
The territory's police have backed the letter, and have been worried about NT locals abusing the hand gel for months.
'I'm hearing they're drinking hand sanitiser,' NT Police Commissioner Michael Murphy told NT News.
'They're actually buying hand sanitiser and zero beer and mixing it together.' https://www.msn.com/en-gb/health/other/aussie-businesses-told-to-remove-hand-sanitiser-as-drinking-continues/ar-AA1zHR6w?ocid=msedgntp&pc=W230&cvid=b591dfd4e88049ec80146546f4a4c9a1&ei=82#

Ok googled it.
Just easier than addressing the root cause and underlying problems. Probably taken tips from Starmer.
