Should I have bet the turn here?

Again all turned out well in the end, but I am wondering if my check was a mistake. This is the kind of situation I often lose big in, so I would like to get some other views. Just for the record my thinking was, if i bet and he repops I have a decision, but as thing stand I can get a free card (outs to a Q flush, a full house, or as it turns out quads), and then I have position on the river.

Also, I got told I was lucky in this hand. I disagree, from my pov the other guy got lucky on the turn - what say you?

I like checking behind here to try and fill up, it also restricts (or should do) the amount your opponent bets at showdown if you don't fill up.
