Fold and kick yourself for not betting much larger on the flop and turn

I'm new here and still learning the ins and outs, but based on the hand, the way it's played, I'm saying he's got your trips beat there more than 50%, which makes it a fold spot. Added to which, pot is just over 1200, you have around 850 invested and 4200 chips back- therefore you're not going to be crippled, especially as blinds are small.

Looking at the hands that potentially have you beaten, we're looking at pocket 4's, 7's, 8's, K's, 5/6 or 2 diamonds. If he's hit a set on the flop with 2 hearts, he's unlikely to call instead of reraise, I think. Same with turn, if he gets his set and nothing happens, he's still dropping it. The river card is where his strategy changes- he's calling until there, and at the end he bets heavily. With pocket K's he's raising pre, or at least on the flop if he's trapping. So I'd rule that out. 5/6 is a possibility- again, he may be trapping on the turn- bad play if so, I think. So I'd go with him sitting on 2 diamonds, probably ace high with a raggy second card- it's cheap pre and post flop to call, he's hit his draw on the turn and on the river he gets the nut flush. I can't see him reraising you all in with nothing, and when he reraises- I'd be confident I'm behind.

Having said all that, trips aren't easy to fold especially early... it's a lot easier to analyse this in hindsight so I dunno, maybe I would call. I think I would normally grudgingly fold that though, with one or two river curses. I think you played the hand pretty well, though the early betting maybe could have been stronger- at least you didn't sit and trap with it, or you would have deserved everything you get.

Really horrible spot to be in tbh, I like to play pockets pairs as I know I can get big value if I hit. In this spot I was out of positon which is very frustrating, I decided to bet out 3/4 so at least im making someone pay for a draw, beleive me I wanted to bet pot but it seems a bit of a waste if they all fold. Clearly the board is dangerous so I didn't want to see hearts or a 9/5. The 4d seemed pretty safe unless he has 56 like deuce says so I bet 3/4 again, when he calls I just figure for usual heart draw that can't let go, so when the Kd hits I figure he's missed all possible draws so stick another 3/4 for value if he has A8 or some other weird two pair.

When he pushed all in I suddenly started thinking how i was beat, any other set he'd surely have raised somewhere else and it probably would have went in earlier, there was also the flush possiblity but that was more of a longshot for me as he would need to have like A8ds K8ds, although wouldn't he raise the flop with that. In the end I don't think I had enough time to think it all through properly and put him on K8 or another two pair where he'd caught up on river and went crazy. Unfortunately he turned over J9 diamonds and I was out.....

I guess I could have bet more on flop to stop someone calling for a GUTSHOT on flop, oh and two overs ofcourse lol. But in the end I should have realised I could have let this one go and remain in the tourney with still plenty of play left.

My gut feeling he as 2 pair he doesnt put you on the flush draw because you bet when their was only one diamond but would I call? Probably not! I would have to know more about the other guy before I could think about calling,

that's unlucky but i think you could of easily got away... why risk your entire stack on a very difficult decision when you still have 140BBs behind to look for a zillion better spots to get it in?

If the time bar had been longer I probably could have come to better decision I admit, but in the short period they give you I couldn't quite hit that fold button.

that doesn't matter now... what matters now is when you find yourself in a similiar situation next time you will know what to do :)

If it was a live game in a casino I would definitly have folded, if I get in the same situation I'll probably fold knowing there are much better spots to get it all in, hopefully I get that choice soon lol.

Call - its the 2nd level of the tourny - if you're right - you have an early double up, if you're wrong, u haven't wasted much time and there will be another one along soon :)
