This was in the second hand of a tournament, i no the check on the turn isn't great, but what it does tell me from this is he probably has the q after he calls my c-raise which had me jumping up and down. till the river. do you sigh and fold or call and pray? i thought he might have put in a smaller raise with the nuts? any thoughts would be great

For me it's a fold. I just can't see how you're ahead here. You're behind to any jack or any queen & as it's only the 2nd hand of the tourney you've still 4k behind. I suppose it's possible he could have something like K10 & that might explain the overbet but I don't feel comfortable putting my tourney on the line this early without the stone cold nuts.

Simply cannot bet the river here.

Check fold river or check call if you have some sort of read that villain may bluff at this board.

I do think the check is a poor move, a stronger bet might have left you with more information. The bet on the flop was reasonably strong, the bet on the turn needed to be 400/500 to give him something to think about. If he has a J, there's a fair chance he folds- if he has a Q, he reshoves. When he reshoves though, it's a pretty set call I think so you'd be out in that case- I think you've actually got away with it.

There's obviously the possibility he had a 10 only all along and made a MASSIVE bluff at the end- but I think that would be a bad move on his part, since the way you played it highly suggests you having a Q or J- I doubt he could put you on trip 9's. So yea, trying to bluff there wouldn't generally be a good move- I think you have to sigh, realise that 9/10 he has the stronger house and fold, it's the best move most of the time.

Bet bigger pre (for value and because your out of position)

Bet bigger on the flop..atleast 3/4 pot (As the board is wet)

    Bet turn

    Fold river

At least you bet the flop though...see so many players checking lol
