Raising Funds for "Breakthrough Cancer Charity" in Glasgow

edited May 2010 in The Sky Poker Tour

Hi Guys

One of the leading reasons for me playing live in the Sky Poker Tours was triggered last year when my wife got the all clear for suspected cancer, having qualified for the first Sky Poker Tour round i normally would not have bothered traveling to Manchester due to the cost and my lack of poker skill....lol, but as a wee celebration of our good news we went and we had so much fun due greatly to our relieved and relaxed frame of mind.

Ever time we get on the ferry heading south for a Sky Poker Tour it's like a wee adventure, we remember how gratefull we are to all the good things that have happened and more so having met so many really nice people at the events.

As a thanks for our good fortune i will pledge any winnings i happen to aquire during the games on Fri 7th/Sat 8th at the Alea Casino to charity.....( in Newcastle i only made £60 ...oops )

Hope also to raise more in Nottingham.....we ain't missing the final round.

Cheers all, if you can make Glasgow i promise you will enjoy it.

Colin

Thank you very much for coming on board in this wee fund raiser -JINKY-, cancer in it's many forms has touched so many of us.

Dave great idea about the AA hands, you will know when i catch a pair of them i will stand after the hand and declare them so don't write the cheque to early in the day.

I have forwarded this thread link to the Breakthrough charity for them to log on and see how the funds are building.

I have pledged £25 even if i get knocked out first hand (seems to happen to me a lot).

Thanks again all, going to be a great weekend.

Having been grounded in Norway for a week longer than planned due to ash cloud (danged place is so expensive) our ferry trip to Aberdeen is now threatened by an Easterly wind forcast for Friday 7th May,  Aberdeen harbour very often closes due to Easterly winds and can leave Northlink passengers bobbing up and down in the North Sea for hours until the wind changes and the harbour reopens.

As they say every cloud has a silver lining...pulled the sailing date forward so we now sail Wednesday night and hopefully get into Aberdeen Thursday morning...."oh woo is me another day shopping in Aberdeen"..the deal is this i'll carry shopping bags all day and follow wherever led with a fixed smile on my face provided my better half rails me for the game in G Casino Aberdeen that nite......

    Thursday

    £40 SUPER DEEP STACK FREEZEOUT (30 minute Clock) 10,000 £5 8:00pm
my kinda game and more much needed live practice.

I think a last longer wager on the Friday night may be in order, Colin. If a few of the guys get involved I would be happy to give half my winnings from it to your charity !!!!!!

Look forward to seeing you, volcanic ash permitting.

Another great Sky Poker Tour shame the casino was not the best we've been to (comments in other threads).

I would like to say a big thanks to all the players who offered me cash at the event to forward to the charity and hope you didn't mind to much that i prefered players to donate direct online or via postal cheque...Tony ( Penguin7) however insisted that i forward the donation for him and handed me a much appreciated £40 to this i will add £25 and donate online after i finish this post

    Make Donations via this link....

Thanks again all and a big thanks to Dave and Sian for all their efforts toward fund raising in Glasgow...
Colin (Hjaltland) charity efforts were a success and myself, Sian and Colin's wife Kathleen won £65 for Breakthrough Cancer on roulette, add to that my £20 pledge and £10 raised from the Sit and Go and then £5 for Colin's AA exit, £100 goes off to the charity in the morning!! Dave
