    1) NEVER borrow money to play poker.

    "i wouldn't call me if i were you."

    I think this is great life advice as well as perfect advice for playing poker.  The following has connections to Christianity, some basic principles of Buddhism and is used by Alcoholics Anonymous.  It's called the Serenity Prayer:

    God, grant me the serenityTo accept the things I cannot change;Courage to change the things I can;And wisdom to know the difference.

    Stick that in you bad beat pipe and smoke it.

     Not heard but have come to the conclusion that

     "the player that will beat you most in poker is ones self "

     master this and reap the rewards !

    never play with scared money

    spend a reasonable percentage of your winnings on ya julee
