Away, is it reasonable?

I am fairly new to this and have been playing a few cheap sit n go tables. A couple of times people post "away" until there are only two players left and then jump in and play. That seems a little sneaky to me (unless they have serious connection problems which must be unusual these days) What's the "official" view on thsi, if there is one, or the unofficial view of others?
Am I whinging too much ?

It's absolutely fine for people to play like this.
Some people might consider it good tactics.

If you can't beat someone who isn't even there you're struggling.

Nothing wrong with it Finn, just merrily take thier blnds and get yourslef in a good position...
As MereNovice said it could be considered a reasonable tactic esp in the DYM

If it's legal it's fair game.

The other way around : I'll steal anyone's chips that is "away". I wouldn't complain (well not in earnest) if the same was done to me.

Part of the on-line game as far as I'm concerned.
