Less players - Lower prize money! World Cup or Reccession? Or our wonderful Summer!!!

Hi guys

I've noticed that in the tournaments there are a lot less players and (obviously) the prize money has gone down. Not just on this site the same has happened on another site I play on.
Does this normally happen every summer or do you think it's World Cup fever? or Reccession.
When the nights start drawing in will the players will return?
Just a question from a pastey white poker player

i played at home during Englands first game and the value was great. All the guarenteed prize money MTT,s were half empty. Got some great value that night. Just a pity I,m a man and  couldn,t miulti-task and made schoolboy errors due to watching game at the same time as playing 3 Tourneys
