What is recommended, on peoples profile on about?

Just wondered as been checking out peoples profiles what is the recommended sign with a number next to it? whats it mean as it doesn't say although i recommended a few lol

also these may go on tech queries, but how comes when i went to view my profile a few times saying they were auditing it? can only one person access someones profile at one time? or why would i be audited etc im confused

    When you look at someone's profile you have the option of 'Recommending' that person (for example if you think they're a good contributor to the forum). The number is represents how many people have done that.

    As for the auditing message, not sure but I've had that quite a few times just recently when trying to view my own. After a few retries it then goes in normally. A software problem perhaps (?)

    Hi Young_Gun,

    'Recomend' carries no relative meaning or value... e.g. if you have lots of recommendations you don't win any special awards. It's simply designed as a tool to encourage 'clicking' and social interaction on our site.
    For instance, if you like a blog or someone's profile, why not click recommend?
    There are those that read the forums, blogs etc but never post, so this is the perfect tool for them, to help them make the first steps to actual posting.

    please quickly edit some of your profile information and then click 'save'. i think you've experienced a small administrative error and doing this will allow me to sort it out for you.

    I kept getting the profile of a geezer called "null"-- so I pressed to report him for abuse-- now he is under review?

    It's something I posted about earlier in the year.  It seems if you try and look at your profile before the previous page has completely loaded the profile appears broken.

    It's easy to reproduce the bug, just click my profile twice quickly.
