"Ranging" opponents

This is a big weakness of mine that I want to address. I understand the concept, but need a lot more pointers/info on the practice. Does anyone know any good books or online sites they would recommend here? Also, when you are on a table with unknown players, is it possible to range based on position, or is the knowledge og who is LAG,TAG etc essential?

good stuff, how would this hand have differed if it was your first hand against this opponent? Does ranging go out the window then?

not really, when they limp i auto think weak player, so narrow the range down to trash, then depending on flop and turn actions i narrow there range down. Im a very advanced player and prob the best on this site so dont worry if you are finding it hard. you will pick up hand reading skills as you play on

    Absolutely hilarious.

I've never played against you so assumed you must be a high-roller, then I checked the poker league...

Loool harvey - posting a link to one hand, however great you played it, doesn't really help someone to learn to put people on a range of hands in general.

The whole idea of being able to put your opponent is a very simple one. All you need to do is play against them and or watch them play hundreds of hands and learn their betting patterns and memorise them. Beyond this it is pure guess work. Do not be fooled by a label that you put on a player into guaging their hands , LAGS sometimes have the goods and very tight players do sometimes bet with air.
