If you mean why the three month break before final table then it's something they introduced around two years ago just to give the whole thing extra hype...it's chance to get to know the players etc basically to make better spectacle for TV! It's not very popular with majority of players but for those fortunate to make November 9, they must love the extra exposure/financial deals they can pull off in the coming months...although I'm sure they would love to get down and play straight away so it's catch 22 really!

In addition to the previous response, the 9 finalists all get paid the 9th place prize money once the final table has been decided so they all go away with money now. Of course this means whoever comes 9th in November has already been paid their winnings.
Does anyone know roughly how many hands per hour are being played? Lolofold will be coming back with around 16 Bigs but I don't know how quickl(in time) this will be eroded.

After this 20min break, blinds go up to 80,000-160,000. ante 20,000. thats 400,000 a round. Posted by TORTUS007
Yes - so if lol R decided to ladder (no - I would never believe that either) his stack would survive about 6 1/2 orbits say 50 hands .. or more likely 40+ as the table would shrink.
I'm curious how long this would take, which depends on the hansa per hour. 4 have dropped out in the first 90 minutes and as 14 still have to go today, the playing speed is important. I know they are playing a whole lot slower than the lads down the pub, but I can't visiualise how much slower. Any idea?

Steady progress. The only problem with small hands is that the WSOP are only detailing big pots and knockouts - does nobody care about the spectators? (LOL) They need Tikay on the case - wish he'd stayed on, but we can hardly expect Sky to stay for a Poker****.
Brandon Steven opened for 425,000 from the cutoff. The next player to act was Redmond Lee, who moved all in for about 2.0 million total. Action folded back to Steven, who could only keep repeating the word, "Wow." After the fourth or fifth iteration, he finally folded his hand.
