Board-quads, kicker???

Hey,

I was wondering whats the deal with kicker not mattering in NLHE cash games when the board is quads.
I have played on alot of sites and kicker does matter everywhere else. Also im pretty sure that it's in the hold'em rules too. Heres the hand:

    That's a split because you're both playing the board - the four 5's plus the board's A kicker. Say if a 10 had come instead of the A then you'd win the hand, because you have an A kicker in your hand which is better than cottlad's J kicker.

    In fairness your complaining when you got really lucky this hand, but as nosey said opponent had ace kicker aswell as was on the board

    Yeh drawing dead to 3 outs on the river for a split is a pretty grim situation to be in! lol

    Cottlad always knew the 5 was coming on the river, just can't believe he got so lucky with the A!!

    Ooooops didn't realise, it was a 1 outer for a split! thought flop was 5 5 5 and turn 5!

    Yeh the guy's been crushing nl30 and 40.

    I think its one of ur mates innit rakeback? - You both have the same location, and have sprung from nowhere in the last week......u have similar games too....

    I thought u were both mates of Harvey who have come over from his regular site....but maybe not.

    alright alright 2 goes at it and I still got it wrong.

    No wonder I haven't had a winning session for a fortnight, and Im having a pop at the guy for not knowing the rules.
