Reading some posts about the August Festival Free-roll, i don't think Sky Poker have explained with great reasoning to players already here Why they have done this, also Why it is of benefit to ALL players and obviously Sky Poker ..
Look at it like this, say Sky Poker is in Gotham City and we, (Sky Poker) are a double-glazing company along with many other double glazing company's in the City ..
To be honest we could be any sort of business even selling security cameras to homes or industry!
So, to sell my double glazing we need a 'hook' or a reason to buy ! While showing the 'benefits' !
Anyone buying anything, either buys because they have, a 'want to' or 'need to' !
All of this can be done by advertising the product or giving something for nothing, or most importantly though the grapevine that is existing customers word of mouth.
Recommendations are by far the best advert on how good the product and service is.
In security cameras you could say to a customer, 'this month we will give you two extra cameras upstairs free if you purchase two downstairs cameras and the monitor' (good deal)..The same method could be used in selling double glazing-
So a poker site offering large amounts of free money to play it's site every day for a month will have the same effect as doing a leaflet drop to say 10,000 houses offering free cameras or double glazing ..
Not everyone will buy, in fact it's possibly right to say, only 1% to 5% would--
However from say 2% there will be ongoing business, plus most importantly referrals by these new customers, all of which would add to the existing customers for that company .
Conclusion -- New happy customers, in turn increasing volume of players at the tables, in turn happy existing players because more chances of bigger guaranteed competitions, and in turn happy directors of company for the coming months ahead .
