How should I be playing this?

I KNOW I went wrong all over the place on this one - totally lost concentration. Shame really as I had been doing ok up to this spot.

Was the Take on Tikay £2.20 tournament (???) and had been going for about 1 1/2 hrs. I was positioned top 3rd with 60 odd left. My opponent had been playing tight as was I (although I had opened up a bit for the last 5mins or so).

What should I do - continue to chase nut flush?, ditch it pre-flop?

I think I should not have bet the flop but thought I would lose control of hand if I didnt (did anyway)

Your thoughts please (PS go easy please still a beginner, On second thoughts let rip if u feel like it!)

I like 3bet/calling preflop - like raise to ~1.1k and call a shove if he comes over the top. This is especially good if you have an aggro image, which you should do really seeing as you have a big stack.

As played I think c/fing the flop is best.

My concern with 3-betting was that opponent had only been playing 1 out of 20 hands so far (he/she had played a hand aggresively earlier with AJ but against a fairly loose opponent). I did consider just folding but if as you say I make it 1100 should I call the all- in in 4 bet if it comes as looks like I'm behind now? Sorry I'm not great at analysing pot odds yet.

If I check/fold the flop isn't this automatically going to lose me the hand as I would think a continuation bet would be automatic? Time to cut my losses perhaps?

After making 2 mistakes already do I chase the flush once the 4th Diamond comes down? The bet of 150 was purely a "my time has run out - still dont know what to do, lets push a buttom at random & hope for the best" - skillful stuff eh?

i would put him on an overpair to the board.

i would of called his pre flop raise then shut down on that flop!

plenty of chips so calling pre is fine. Check/fold on flop or alternatively check raise if you want to test villian out, but once you get your answer it's still a fold, look for a better spot.
