Set Mining
·         1 in 8.5 times you flop a set with a pocket pair·         Only set mine in position against your target player·         Target player needs to be very aggressive or a calling station·         Value bet calling stations and trap the aggressive player·         Look to set mine against players that will pay you off when you hit·         Your opponent needs a stack more than = 10x(the standard 3x raise)·         If you miss the flop FOLD Unless you pick up a good draw
Don’t Set Mine When
·         The player is a strong aggressive opponent who controls the pot size·         There is a good chance of a re-raise after your pre flop call·         There is a big multi-way pot, chances are a small set isn’t good enough·         You are out of position·         Your opponent doesn’t have enough chips for it to be profitable

    lol nice hands.

flopped a set the other day and lost a 500xbb pot to a guy who I'm convinced couldn't see his cards, and/or, doesn't know the rules of the game.

    :(

Here's a picture of donkeyplop anyway.....

bet bigger on all streets in hand1, fold hand4.

when you say opponent should have 10x his raise left to play id suggest it be more like 15-20x

Hi LOL_RAISE in hand 1 i didnt bet more because i wanted to keep my customer, granted in hand 4 i should have found the fold button, he trapped me by checking the turn, which was his money card and then his all in over bet on the river looked like a bluff, still we all make mistakes

problem is in hand1 most of his hands are going to have 30% equity against you so you need to make him pay a high price to catch his draw. on the turn you really should be check/raising, villain has put in almost half of his remaining stack so he is never folding a value hand here, and when the river does come a club it puts you in a really awkward spot with a half pot sized bet left

Point taken, I think i was half thinking he may have a strong club draw or even a floped low flush, when the river came it gave me the full house and at that point three of a kind is also in his range

This is what happens why I am on the wrong end of a set mine :( I dont think playing pocket 5's will win in the long run playing them like this, it's important avoid multi-way pots when set mining

    explanation or examples needed please?

I think that the more players that go to a flop the higher the chance of someone having straight or/and flush draws, also overpairs hitting their higher set.  If I am in position pre flop and there are more than 2 players in the hand already, I prefer to raise with a decent pocket pair, 6-6, 5-5, 4-4, 3-3, 2-2 are all getting folded
