he's made a big pot bet to suggest he has hit the Ace or even 2 pair. Not even worried if a 3rd diamond comes on the river so just call. Hope he bets strong on the river too.

Well, you have no reads- so he could have any cards, so I'll focus more on how your hand is perceived.

Flop could mean anything, you may have connected or not, he has no idea what you have still. That turn bet however, defines your hand a lot more- he could still have air, but if you call or raise, you've almost 100% got a big part of it- not necessarily a set, but a king with strong kicker, bare minimum- more likely a strong A or 2 pair he'd put you on (assuming he's half decent).

With that in mind, if you call- he's unlikely to make any bet on the river unless he improves dramatically- which you may well not want, if he improves to a straight/flush- that turn has brought in very possible gutshots and a flush. I'd definitely raise and either shut the pot down now, or get more money in if he has a draw which he's willing to commit to- I'd have to raise it up to around 2000-2500 though. Calling will give away your hand anyway, meaning a busted draw river bluff is fairly unlikely.

With that in mind, what could he have- if he has a big ace, he might accomodate you. A king, not so likely. Any kind of gutshot- very unlikely, though if he has any combination of QJ10 diamonds, or perhaps 87 diamonds, he may make a loose call, hoping to bink on the river.

I think at this early stage, I'm happy to take down a pot that increases my stack by 30% or so and move on, no need to slowplay this and take a small risk of going broke versus an almost non-existant chance of getting more out of him.

Well ended up making a minraise as his bet seemed very strong, to which he pretty much snap-folded.

    Really?????

You're a miles better MTT player than me, but I'd deffo be raising here in any kind of deep-stacked game.

Not scared of anything, but I want paying........just above min raise or shove for me, depending on how bad opponent is.

See, I can only see raising here while he may still be on a draw, if he's drawing and misses, you're almost never getting paid on river. If you call and he's on an outright bluff/draw, you're rarely going to get a monster river bluff- he's way more likely to give up IMO.

I like the minraise dude, gives him enough room to shove over the top if he is drawing, but I do think you're struggling to get paid here unless he's holding 2 pair or more.

let your time bar run all way down to the bottom and call, hope he sees it as a weakness and bets the river hoping you fold!!!! Then shove over the top and watch the "slowrolling" insults flood the chat box!! :)
