I had very little info on this villain and he hadn't been at the table very long. i decide to call in pos otf for obvious reasons and his turn bet looked like a typical blocker to see a cheap river which i find a lot at this level. i raise for value on the turn but when the river bricks and he checks to me is there any point in betting? on the turn i was thinking that he either had a draw or a big made hand so what am i getting value out of on the river realistically?
having said that you are susceptible to a river check raise, i also think he can check call 10 10++ as well as some 9's if he is bad, you never know he may make a random hero call.
but given that he is rarely if ever going to c/r bluff the river i would hapily bet fold (if we were deeper), but as u have less than a potsize bet left its a jam or check only imo.
at nl 50 i jam his line looks alot like 10 10++ which prob stacks off enough to make this the best play
edit just saw the stax just get it in.
seriously if you dont vbet these type of boards you're gonna lose out on so much value.
Regarding the hand this thread concerns... It was the villains turn bet that is the main talking point imo. In my mind that bet polarises his range some what to either a draw or a full house a huge percentage of the time. If he has an overpair on the flop why would he be betting £1 on the turn? it makes no sense. even if he has a random 9 the bet doesn't serve a purpose, granted i don't have info on the villain so it could just be some really weird play. So in other words, in betting the river am i not just getting him to fold all his missed draws or losing the rest of my stack when he has better than me?? And on very few occasions getting value? your thoughts.
