with money being tight etc etc i have not played live in a while but decided to treat myself to a £20 freezout in my local casino last night..
i started really tight and by only playing a few hands i built up my stack from 6k to 9k then just before the break
i had jk off suit on the button when i serial raiser makes it 600 to go (75/150) i thought i should fold but decided to see a flop.. the big blind also comes along...
flop 9 10 q (rainbow)....
i was thinking happy days here and how do i get paid...
1st to act makes it 900 and the original raiser insta pushes all in for my stack i insta call and other guy folds...
hes hit top set with qq and pairs the board on the turn to hit full house and im on my way home..
is this
a = bad play - i should av folded pre or
b = cold deck - i was entitled to see a flop v a sreial raiser in position
either way after the flop all the money was going in and now my low br means i have to wait till pay day to play again... argh.... got a 1k freeroill thursday and the premiership tho so hopefully abit of free cash to play with

i think the call is fine with someone who has been very active, so your be ahead of his range and have position. unlucky he has qq but after flop again magic flop and he got lucky to pair the board
in summary i would have done the same very unlucky
I think that maybe your question is is j-k os a decent enough hand to CALL that raise with ? Imo no cos IF you hit there are a lot of flops that get you into trouble with kicker problems. A half hand in his range hand like k-q os is crushing you. Strangely enough if you ask yourself what flops do you want to see it's the one you got , a-q-10 and trips ( still kicker problems maybe ? ) . These don't usually happen.
Additionally if the blinds wake up with a big hand or decide to squeeze it can kick off you are therefore effectively donating 4 bb's to a pot you won't EVER want to participate in.
Did you make the call because your opponent was getting to you with his aggro style ? Were you guilty of being impatient ?
Maybe i am advocating a too passive style here ? Personally am not a big fan of k-j What do you think ?
Sometimes it's really hard to tell whether people are aggro or just in a phase of getting golden hands or worse both ! Now that certainly is ARGHHHHHHHHHHH.
I'm guessing that if you raise here the blinds fold and your evil opponent re-raises his queens 3/4 X maybe and you fold so maybe don't play it ?
Personally the only hands i'd call with are low to mid pairs to set mine, then fold. The rest i fold. a-a, k-k , a-k i reraise. i kinda figure you know that already tho. Oh well. Sorry if i was no help
A long while back i read an article where Negreanu listed the classic trouble hands. K-J was one along with K-Q, A-Q, A-J, J-J etc.
As i said i'm not too good on tourneys and usually blind away waiting too long for hands lol
