In Response to how can stop this:
Possibly try to understand that your hand has very little scope for genuine improvement ? How many outs do you have here that satisfy you ? How often will you hit these outs ? Other than that RAM it all in on the flop hoping your opponent doesn't  have an over pair , a 5 or a 7 with a better kicker. That way you are forcing them into making a mistake but simultaneously recognise they are a station perhaps and will outdraw you often with a great many hands.. Errr try to avoid intensely marginal spots unless you know your opponent well ? Don't try to WIN every pot you are involved in ?  Wait a minute i've seen you on the telly. Aren't you a shark ? You are a wum right ? I've been duped like a monkey in a poisonous nut shop. I feel violated in spirit :( .......    Time for a hot bath

Firstly dont call with 74, secondly dont blame him for calling as flush draw just about getting the right price all the way through

cheffboy both of them have had straight & flush draws people dont fold them! Also hand 1 you have 23 bb  that could be a problem reckon you was behind after flop anyway with flush outs, straight & possible which is overcards to your pair neither hands you have shown are that bad a beat imo

sporny you cannot flip the pressure on that hand he was initial raiser and you just called so when the hearts come down he is playing to the river all day long.
However dont stop playing them types of cards just start being the initial raiser with them and give up when u know they hit there flush.
Here is how i would play that first hand if i was in ur posstion,

pre : re raise (instantly puts pressure on them)
flop: notice there are two hearts so do not shove here as u will get called by someone with two hearts. Bet 3/4 of the pot. If he comes over the top fold. If he calls pray for a non heart turn,
Turn: he acts first if he bets into u i would insta fold if he checks shove and lets see if he is happy to fish for his cards on the river with the odds stacked against him.

If he does call and hit then ul, but by re raising pre u will get control on this hand and when u shove the turn even if he hits the queen he will think he is behind.
