So I tried to show some strength pre flop, hit bottom pair and I made a pretty loose call after the flop. I hit my set of 2's on the Turn. I made the shove, thinking along the lines of I have the possible straight, full house and possibly even quads. When the hands are shown I'm ahead and then the 7 comes on the river to give the other guy a full house. Now it's a bad beat, I was pretty gutted but I can take it, I've only started playing for a bit of cash this month and my game is far from being great but I want to know if people think I shoved correctly.

Thanks in advance. Sorry for lack of abbreviations, not fully up on them yet ;)

A-2 os is a premium hand. I think you were robbed man. Poker can be cruel sometimes.
This hand reminded me of a friend i have with a metal detector. One day he went out walking and was conviced he found a hoard of anglo-saxon gold. Turned out to be a a caramac wrapper in a dog poop. Who would have thought it ?
And MORE importantly who feeds their dog caramacs either with or without the wrapper on ? My word life is twisted.

The river was a bit unlucky for you with only a 2/46 chance of him getting another 7 if my calculations are correct.

I don't personally rate A/2 at all and only a little if they are the same suit. If you hit the Ace you are still unsure of where you are if you have a few players in the flop going along for the ride. Obviously we can't see the table dynamics from that hand alone and they could have loose called on two occasions but you only had a pair of 2's at the end of the day. On the river when you obtained trips I think you could have done a feeler bet for around 6-800 so you weren't fully pot committed especially with a straightening board and having no idea what anyone else had.

You were still unlucky though to lose it on the river there mind.

Fold pre mate, glad you raised but if you want to play it raise more likely your dominated by another ace. After that flop i would fold unless your opponent been c betting every flop

after that turn if you havent given them credit for flopped flush then im gettin it in too, ul with river you went in miles ahead(in the end)

Weclome to the clinic and good luck at the tables bud

Yes I would fold pre too, I hate rag aces, they can get you in so much trouble.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I usually do throw away rag aces but I guess I was trying something different.

I'll make sure I don't go in too deep with them next time.
