Villan has just sat down, but I have notes saying tight passive. Didnt mean to limp pre on the button, was not paying attention - so we are where we are.

What is the right play after the shove, and what do you put him on?

Well the usual rule is "Never go bust in an unraised pot", but taking the stakes into account I'm likely making the call in this spot. He could easy be drawing to a heart in his hand and trying to shove you off, or any random pair/2 pair combo or at best the straight. So many hands he could have, and a made better flush is the least likely of them, so think in this spot I'm calling all day, and just reloading if its one of those days when he does have a made better flush.

There isn't a rule saying "Never bust someone in an unraised pot"

Ok, not a rule, but its a saying in poker. Don't know who first used it, but its not one I made up myself. And I don't always agree with it either. IT's mainly a saying for not being silly with say TP/WK against heavy action. Hence why I said didn't apply in this spot for me. :)

EDIT: Thiink it wass Doyle Brunson that coined the phrase first, but not 100% sure.

i dont mind limping behind preflop on the button especially when we are unliekly to get squeezed, and if we do get raied unlikely to get many folds.

Ok so general consensus is that you call all day long. Good.

I had him down as having the Jack, which he did - of hearts no less. all good in the end. Have no idea why he limped pre though.
